get her the extra thingy that you can use your own coffee in it...this way, she won't break the bank with the expensive pods.

My friend got one for her shop & loves it so much, that she got another for home! I'm not much of a coffee drinker, but it makes lovely hot chocolate too! The K cups are pricey, but we've found that Bed, Bath & Beyond seems to have the best selection/price - and they always have those coupons they send out for 20% off too! (Which don't really expire either. I've used a coupon that was 2 years old!)

How about the one from Crusinart that has a holding talk and you can make different size cups? Comes with the extra basket so you can use your own coffee...anyone have one of these?

Bought one, hated it, gave it away, Like electric perk. Never liked drip coffee

Does anyone have a Tassimo? When I was looking into these machines, I remember thinking I'd prefer the Tassimo, so I'd love to hear if anyone has compared?

The K-Cups can get pricy but we shop around, Costco has good prices, and every so often Price Chopper or Target put them on sale. I subscribe to their website and get some of their specials where you buy 2 boxes and get one free or sometimes its free shipping, and you can mix and match whether you want tea or coffee. We've got the little filter for it too if you want your own special blend of coffee. Our machine comes with 3 different cup sizes, it will even make travel mug sizes, and ours also has the ice tea fuction which I've been wearing out with this heat!

We have a Keurig and love it! The pods are pricey...but, it depends on how many people in your house are using it and how many cups are brewed each day. With just DH and me, I don't worry about the expense. And this way I can have my flavored coffee and he can have his regular flavor. I also like to use it for tea and hot chocolate (both of which he never drinks).

I have been using the Starbucks VIA instant coffee, which gives me a great cup of coffee, and costs about 75 cents a cup.... thought of buying the Keurig system, but this works for me, and I have one less appliance to line my countertop!

If you just want to make one cup of coffee at a time, get a coffee press. It makes the best coffee. You put the grounds down in the bottom, put the lid on and let it sit for about five minutes. Then you push down the plunger, there is a filter screen that keeps out the grounds- voila, a perfect cup! I like organic coffee and like to grind my own beans one cup at a time- but we live close to Seattle, what can I say???

I really like mine. I took it to our Spring Quilt Retreat along w/ mixed coffees and teas, and it was the hit of the weekend. I don't spend a lot of money on the K-cups. I've worked it out so that I have a couple credit cards tied to my Penny's charge and their reward points thing sends me three $10 gift cards a month. I use them for coffee mostly. And, since the cards get paid off monthly, no interest applies. If you shop around, you can find other good deals on them. Walmart has the Folgers brand of k-cups, and there's always coupons in the paper for Folgers.
