I was raised in a time when manners were mandatory. We are teaching my grandson the same. Rudeness seems to be more popular today.

Oh so very true. I have to say my daughter has taught my grandchildren very good manners, and they use them. But very few do. I have a friend who has 4 children youngest is 41 and all of her children still refer to and older adult as Mr or Mrs. Rather rare these days. |
YES! Thank you & please were learned from the time we could talk. Too bad such lessons have fallen by the wayside. :-(

You just hit upon one of my pet peeves!
I always say "thank you" when someone does something for me, especially hold a door open (it's so rare these days). Using common courtesy, I hold the door open for people all the time. Very rarely does anyone say "thank you". It makes me feel better to say "your welcome" (in a loud voice) anyways. I am sure they don't have a clue! But, on the odd chance that one person picks up on why I did... |

I teach my children to say it. However, we've noticed that very few people say "Thank you" these days. |
I always do say thank you.........and when I eat out....I let the manager of the restaurant know if I had a great experience. Working in retail I hear more complaints then compliments so I like to give one when I can. I'm not a complainer.

Yes, I do it as a habit. I even apologize to doors and chairs when I bump into them. Excuse me and Thank you is a must for me. I do it without even thinking. And, yes, my adult kids do too. Manners is sooooo important. Sometimes people look surprised when I say either of them.

Oh yes I say thank you and usually smile. I have taught both my grands to say thank you, please and open doors for others as its the polite thing to do. Both of my daughters have also carried that through their lives !

I always do. I was raised properly. Sorry to say, that's sorely lacking in the world today...
