PS - seen on a T-shirt --
Have your peeps call my peeps. |
I love Peeps, but they have to be hard and chewy! Leave them open to the air for a few weeks and they're just right. Easter Peeps are the best, but any of them will do. Yummy!

I also love peeps - it is the weird texture. I like circus peanuts as well, for the same reason. I prefer them fresh. As funny as this sounds,...don't they make a mess in your microwave? |

I'm with PTquilts on the peeps and circus peanuts. When I graduated high school I got a 2 lb bag and got to eat them all 'cuz everyone else thinks they are low rent. I do *however* like them stale better!
Our newspaper has a Peeps contest every year before Easter. You have to make up a diorama. They are hilarious! Edie
Love then! But then I love the bunnies too! Our youngest DD who is 28 loves them too.

One of the best things about peeps is open fire toasting. The outside sugar caramelizes. Put between a couple of toasted apple slices instead of smores. We also core the apples, put a couple of peeps inside, wrap in foil, a set inside the dutch oven till baked. Yummn. Not your average marshmallow roast.
Can't stand the texture or taste of marshmallow....but it HAS been fun to watch them evolve over the years, adding different colors for Easter--like the great shade of blue last year---and then to see Halloween Peeps and Christmas Peeps come out! I buy them for the love of my life, who shares them with the Australian Shepherd....one dog out of five likes them (don't worry, animal lovers, he only gets an occasional bite!)

Is there a 12 step program to stop eating them? Because I need to join. Feel sick and then hide the evidence . My ritual is to eat the eyes, then onto the ears and I work my way down. I honestly can feel the sugar travel though my body to my head. Spring ones are the best, the fall ones do not taste the same to me. I am so.... releived that I am not the only one.

Sounds good---even to a non-marshmallow-lover! PS my daughter lives in Grovetown![/quote]
I love teaching in Grovetown. The kids there are so responsive. Our new 4-H center will be in Appling, much closer for the GT students to participate in activities. I am so looking forward to setting up a community lab for sewing, cooking, and crafts. I've had to teach out of my home for years. I'll be glad to have my space back. |
I think we need to start a chapter of PA (Peeps Anonymous).
OK, I'm getting a stomach ache just reading this thread!;)
I love them all - all shapes, all colours! I am very thankful that they come out only once a year.
I LOVE YELLOW PEEPS! I too like only the yellow ones. BUT I like to open the package when I get them and then let them get stale and a bit hard. Try one that way. So delicious and not quite a sweet tasting.
Hope your airedales are doing well. Mine are fine. I need to change my avatar and put up a pic of both of them. |
I love peeps, yellow is my favorite too! I liked them better when they would get just a little stale...but they don't do that anymore! Enjoy!
I Love them!!! I can't get enough. I buy bags the day after Easter. I love them even more because, other than my cat Willie, I am the only one in the family that eats them!!
My vote is for yellow peeps. I love them. Just looking at them makes me happy. I don't even have to eat them. Love to put them in the microwave and watch them get huge. Mmmmm. Peeps!

You can make them stale yourself. Just put a couple of knife cuts in the plastic package and wait about a week.

I love peeps!!!!

Odd ball here....bought a pack of green bunnies, ate every one of them myself. Ummmm. Did you know that there are different weights on the different critters? The box of chicks weighs the least and the bunnies weigh the most..all are the same price. For the life of me, can't think what critter was in the middle. Oh, senility.

Yesterday, I saw and bought chocolate covered peeps. They, too, are good but in a different way. When I think of Easter peeps, I want yellow peeps. I don't care for the marshmallow bunnies or anything else, just peeps. Does anyone else like peeps? |
I love peeps, my grandson (4 yrs old) brings me a box for easter every year.
Oh peeps ....LOVE EM!!!! especially the yellow ones.
The taste I don't mind, however....its the texture that I am not a fan of. If something doesn't "feel" right in my mouth I can't cont. to chew or even THINK about swallowing it. lol Peeps I stay away from because I know I can't handle the texture!
My grandson is very, very picky...but peeps are one of his favorite candies. I usually stock up on several boxes to take when we go see him.
I love peeps, nice to meet someone else that does. Now I have to go buy some today.
My daughter (35) loves them. Any color will do. I have to buy them early, cut open the celopane paper and let them get hard.... that is how she likes them.
And I want them to be stale just as they were in my Easter basket on the last day before the baskets were put away.
I love them too. They have to be slightly firm, I open the package for several days. Most people either lovethem or hate them.
Try this with Peeps, my boys love it! Put 2 on a plate, stick toothpicks into them. Put them in the microwave. First one to stab the other wins. (As they get bigger the toothpicks get closer to the opponent) No eating involved, just a friendly duel among competative testostrone driven humans!
I love them old and crunchy.
One of my very favorites. I like them a little stale. Have you ever put two in the microwave for just a couple of seconds. HaHa. It is funny to watch.
