It's interesting that in most countries the seasons are regarded as changing at the time of the Solstices. Here in Australia the first of march is officially the start of Autumn and the first of September is the start of Spring. Why? Well, when Sydney was a penal colony the British troops changed from Summer to Winter uniforms on the 1st of March and back to Summer uniforms on 1st September, so ever since we have kept those timings. (Yesterday in Sydney the temperature at mid day was about 86 degrees and overnight still about 70 so you can see how well that works.)

Lived in MN/WI most of my life now in NM. Remember may 5 about 27 years ago....had a little baby...off to work...looked out the window...5" of snow...had to dig out winter bunting for him. Ugh. Feel you pain. But don't worry. Soon you'll be complaining of mosquitoes!

On the positive side tho, Minnesota is gorgeous in the summer.

ROFL. We are complaining in So. Indiana about the cold first day of spring but at least we don't have snow. The daffodils are blooming and the trees are budding but I'm ready for warm.

I also love that picture. Looking forward to spending time in my lawn chair and doing some handwork when the weather warms. Don't know if we will get snow this weekend or not but anything is possible this year. I agree the groundhog is in a lot of trouble. ;)

Here in northwestern North Dakota it is cold, windy and drifting snow. DH out with the 1 ton 4x4 pickup got stuck in the snow on the drive going out. We have so much snow here and I am so sick of winter. Been working at home on the telephone tho. I just ordered some fabric from Fabric Depot nice sale, but not able to checkout with credit card as they are redoing their shopping cart.

We're having a cold spell too ... it's only going to be in the mid sixties today and they are predicting a low of 38 degrees tomorrow night! BRRRRR

(Not very nice am I?)
