You need to post a pic - I've never heard of them.

My neighbor was telling me about a little boy who lived in the house I live in now. There are Surprise Lillys on the west side of the house. They called them "Naked Ladies" The little boy, about 5 years old, went to school and drew a picture. The teacher asked him about his picture and he told her they were "Naked Ladies" He got in trouble and was sent home. Duh..teacher, ask for more details.
Anyway, I would never call them "Naked Ladies" around a child. |
My grandpa grew Naked Lady flowers
|
mine are in full bloom.
|
OK ... it's not a true Lily, latin name is lycoris squamigera which is in the Amaryillis family.
|
I have just a few plants which are just stating to come up - no blooms yet. Glad someone else refers to them as naked ladies...always get a strange look when I ask about them.

Surprise lilies multiply like crazy around our area-pretty bulbs and fragrant.

Mine are blooming here in Missouri, the fragrance is wonderful.
My mother-in-aw always called them surprise lillies. |
