I got two pickings off our beans but had to still buy some more. My daughter-in-law picked them up. $1 a pound in 10 pound bags Washed cut and ready for your freezer, she says. I still have to blanche them, right? No she says they are ready for your freezer. She said she would call where she got them and check. I'm thinking - have things changed in the past two months?? Yes, I do have to blanche them! She had already bagged them in freezer bags. So at noon I did up 20 pounds of string beans and at supper time, we cut and froze 5 dozen ears of corn.

Someone told me to pay attention to what kind of fertilizer you use -- the 3 numbers mean something. The nitrogen (middle) makes great foliage. One of the others does root growth and the other does "fruit"

I have a raised 1 foot garden for the first time -- 3 tomatoes, 4 peppers and 4 cukes. All are doing well. I filled the 1 foot squares with dirt from Lowes. and added cow manure.

that same thing is happening in my garden with the pickles,a lot of flowers but no pickles. Do have flowers on one end of the garden, see no bees.

We had beans but the they were "empty" and spongy. Had one small batch for one night and the rest were gross.

Tomatoes are like rocks... the ones that actually grew. We don't even have green tomatoes to fry.

Zuks grew some but they were hidden so I missed them.

Corn looked like aliens had nibbled on it...nothing filled out and they were only about 3" long.

Waste of time this year it seems

we lost everything to the heat...guess the grocery store will see more of me this winter than I had hoped...sigh

I got about 4 qts off mine, We're gonna try to plant more in the fall. The heat was just to much for ours.

No garden here...just letting things grow for the birds. The heat caused early blooms and little fruit. My okra seed didn't produce one plant this year. Last year was more than wonderful, everything in big abundance..so I am hoping next year will be great as well. Yes, you can get bad packs of seeds. This weird weather has a lot to do with it as well. I only use 10-10-10 fertilizer on the garden. It is a good simple, balanced food for plants.

We have lots of blossoms on our beans, but no beans yet. Just starting to get peas. A few green tomatoes, tons of lettuce, the spinach went to seed. What a weird combo! Am hoping to see improvements here soon!

I attribute ours to the heat.

Lol. Was thinking the same thing. Is this the farmers first year of farming?
