Thats horrible.
You know that only one percent of the redwood forest is left.
So many animals are going extinct because of man.

Why are they cutting down their habitat? I would object strongly.

I would get a group together and get a petition signed. If the members of the city object to cutting down of trees then something should be done, whoever heard of an overgrown forest that you had to thin. It takes hundreds of years for trees to get that size. Thats a load of bull their spewing IMHO

You would think with all the information out there about climate change that people would realize it isn't smart to cut own trees. Poor wildlife! It reminds of the line from a old Joni Mitchell song...They paved paradise to put up a parking lot...

They come in for easy food like birdfeeders even if the forest hasn't been cut. Ours are mostly nocturnal, but have been seen at 7:00 am and noon. I met one that size at 7:15 pm while walking my dogs. I ended up with a separated shoulder from restraining my recent rescue. The bear came towards us for a while, then turned and headed back to the woods. This was the middle street in our area - not back by the woods. My concern is the little ones (humans) out playing after dinner.

Thinning forest is reasonable so that new growth can occur, but clear cutting to sell the wood to the co gen plant isn't, though that's on private land, not national forests.

Wow! Too big and too close.

the forest behind us is town owned. the town is thinning it out...but they are doing alot of it as well as private owners in the area now...one mountain side that is private owned is almost empty...very bare. There are wood trucks full every day...its not only here but though out our town.

Perhaps he is looking for a "Bear Paw" quilt from you to hibernate with this winter! ;)

Whistle or make a lot of noise when you go outside. They will usually run away.

I was going to print out the picture and frame it...and thinking I need to make a log cabin with a bear applique or a bear claw quit : )
