They say we are going to have a record breaking snow/ice storm. We live in Chicagoland and experienced the storms of 1967, 1979 and 1988...we are ready with all kinds of foodstuffs, shovels, gas for the snow blowers and......our son's generator...hoorah for our son!!!

quilt1950 01-31-2011 05:11 PM

I'm in Cincinnati. Usually Cincinnati weathermen overreact to everything. Tonight they are saying nothing. That means we are probably going to be hit hard.

Carrie Jo 01-31-2011 05:11 PM

We live near the Indiana Michigan boarder and are getting ready for the storm also. I hope neither one of us need our generators... goodluck to you

tomilu 01-31-2011 05:12 PM

I'm glad I'm not further north than Kansas. You all stay warm and sew, sew, sew, and keep us posted.

denise d 01-31-2011 05:17 PM

In the Indianapolis area. Already have a growing layer of ice on everything. Hubby went out about 20 minutes ago to walk dogs, his feet prints have already filled up/ iced over.

This could be fun.

mamaw 01-31-2011 05:19 PM

Storm going to start here Tues. afternoon, most of it arriving on Wednesday. Could see a foot or more; but we need it to all get out of the air this next month so we can have an early spring. That would be awesome!

cakebaker 01-31-2011 05:20 PM

Lucky you, now I know why we spend our winters in the south.

mommamac 01-31-2011 05:29 PM

don't think the groundhog will see his shadow this year - there's so much snow he won't even be able to get out of his burrow. LOL

oldswimmer 01-31-2011 05:38 PM

It started here this morning. Was icy on the streets, but then it warmed up some, so the ice went away and then it started snowing. Ice is always the worst. Will keep a good thought for all of you that get the ice storms. They are hard on everything and everyone! Stay safe and warm everyone! We are expecting 3 -6 inches tomorrow. Not nearly as bad as some of you are forcast to have!

Marlys 01-31-2011 05:40 PM

It is supposed to be -28 tonight - and we aren't the coldest spot in the state! That's before the wind chill factor! I think I will stay in and quilt tomorrow!!!

isnthatodd 01-31-2011 05:43 PM

Even here in Texas we are expecting wind chills below zero!!!!

Do you watch Fox19 news?????????/ My DD is friends with Frank Marzullo. If he wears a sweater the weather is going to be REALLY bad. If he has a suit on the weather will be fine. Just a tip I thought you might like to know.

prezzy 01-31-2011 05:47 PM

We are suppose to get snow starting tomorrow. They said 6-12 inches and very cold. The snow doesn't stop this year. My friend had a Robin on her lawn the other day.

windee 01-31-2011 05:52 PM

moonwork42029 01-31-2011 05:53 PM

We're just south of the "line" between snow and rain...crossing our fingers the weatherman is right this time. Last ice storm 2 years ago we were without power for 13 days and we only live 2 blks off main hwy.

I am two hours south of you, and predicted anywhere from 2-3 inches for tonight and 4-6 for Tues and Wed depending on really where in the belt you are.

Chele 01-31-2011 06:18 PM

Sending you all warm Florida weather. It's supposed to be 80 here tomorrow. It will be a nice change for us. It's been cold! No pretty snow, just cold! Beach weather tomorrow!

sewingsuz 01-31-2011 06:37 PM

I drove two yrs ago on new years week end from Chicago to Northern Arizona by myself and when I got just East of Amorilo Texas on I 40 they closed the freeway. The next day when I got to Amorilo TX there was Ice on every branch and every blade of grass. Everything was shut down. I never have seen this before and could not believe my eyes. It took me 8 hrs on new years day to go 250 miles going west on I 40. I was not near home yet. I drove 14 hrs by myself that day. Not a good way to spend new years eve or new year day. Glad to hit the AZ state line. Everyone be carefull in this storm coming up.

B. Louise 01-31-2011 06:38 PM

thank you,Chele for the warm weather thoughts you are sending us.

Riversong 01-31-2011 06:55 PM

Bracing here in Missouri. Frankly,Im pretty scared. Power goes out here easily when we get ice and we have no heat alternative. We do have lots of quilts and a dog and a few cats so I guess we can huddle up if we have to!!!

brushandthimble 01-31-2011 07:01 PM

channel 5, snow tomorrow morning approx 6 inches, nothing overnight then BAM 12 - 14 inches depending where the line is, and again depending on the line 1/4 inch to 1 inch of ice. Not looking forward to it:( and both DH and I have to work regardless...

Tink's Mom 01-31-2011 07:11 PM

Just plugged in my power packs...get them all charged up. They have a light and enough power to run my sewing machine for a few hours.... :-D I have Chocolate...coffee...hot chocolate...homemade soup. I'm ready...just have to convince Tink that all that snow won't kill her.

trisha 01-31-2011 07:14 PM

It is supposed to start here tonite and get worse in the next 24 to 36 hours. Wish is would come already...

windee 01-31-2011 07:17 PM

Pat P 01-31-2011 07:18 PM

Here in Indiana people getting panicky we've been lucky so far. Snow blowing icing on the roads, Thank goodness for our big generator. DH had SIL pick up diesel fuel in case it is a big one coming in.

Been snowing here all day. Kids got out of school early and have a 2 hour delay tomorrow morning. I expect that they will probably close early or not have school once the wind picks up. Live in rural Iowa and the country roads drift shut very easily here.

littlehud 01-31-2011 07:27 PM

We are getting snow now. It is supposed to be 5 to 8 inches. It beats the ice we had this morning though.

ragqueen03 01-31-2011 07:39 PM

charmpacksplus 01-31-2011 07:56 PM

I really wish they (whoever they are) would keep all this cold weather in the north. We are not supposed to get this many sub-freezing days in Louisiana. We had a gorgeous day today, in the 70's, but tomorrow night it's going back into the 20's. Maybe some freezing precip on Friday. I am not cut out for this. BRRRRrrrrrr!!!

CarrieAnne 01-31-2011 08:11 PM

Ran to grocery store, and get a cord for generator. I am ready!

kathidahl 01-31-2011 08:12 PM

Years ago you could still use your gas range when the power went down...not so today...all appliances have electronic igniters!

Pam B 01-31-2011 08:24 PM

It started about 5pm at my house with some sleet. It quickly turned to freezing rain. I am going under the assumption that we will eventually lose power. Laptops and cell phones are charged and we can always recharge them in the car, if necessary. I have a terrible head/chest cold and feel absolutely miserable tonight. Not looking forward to the next few days, at all.

sewwhat85 01-31-2011 09:54 PM

they say 15-25 inches here

connie_1936 01-31-2011 10:02 PM

the weather is why we left chicago 40 years ago. az is great.

Blue's quilting mama 01-31-2011 10:09 PM

Wanna come quilt with me in Northern CA? It has been sunny and the highs almost 70!

CarolLady 02-01-2011 05:07 AM

In Columbia, MO area snow is starting to come down. We had rain/freezing rain yesterday/last night. They are saying 8-12" but some say possibly higher amounts. Not good.

(Thinking about finding the ground hog and thumping him on the head so he can't see his shadow) :-)

Everyone stay safe and warm!!!

stitchinwitch 02-01-2011 05:11 AM

One never knows if we should believe the weather reports on the 3 local stations, or the weather channel. OR on-line! So many times they warned us about impending storms and winds, we cancelled our plans and not one drop of moisture came down from the clouds..........hmmmmmmmmm............I wonder if that's how the SHOW ME state got its name????????

Suzi 02-01-2011 05:11 AM

Rain, freezing rain, ice .... that's what's forecast for this area until Thursday. NOT looking forward to this at all. IT'S TIME FOR SPRING, don't you think?
