just a thought: don't think I'll be trying them either.
My understanding is, you eat them whole...*uts and all!
nope, nope, nope  -

Ditto! Can't even think about eating sardines, or oysters, or stuff like that... :(

Great source of Omega3! Sometimes in the evenings after I get home from work and start sewing, I am on a roll and don't want to break to cook anything, so I pop open a can of sardines. I get the ones in olive oil or water. NO SOY.

Then my three cats surround me!

I like sardines in mustard on saltines, smoked oysters and anchovies on pizza.

The only time those things are in my house is at Christmas time. My husband buys them (4 or 5 different kinds) for him and one of my sons and they usually finish them off, otherwise they get tossed by me.

I used to beg my dad for a sardine when I was a kid. I have no idea what I was thinking then. Yes, I know they are packed full of Omega-3's. I'll take a supplement.

LIKE BOTH, sardines in tomato on toast; anchovies on homemade pizza and mixed in pork mince balls with lemon zest also in fish pie crust.

You know I love ceaser salad and one day out on the farm I had everything to make one except the anchovies. so I substituted sardines instead. It was delicious and no one noticed because every scrap of salad was eaten, and I never let on. I also like the tiny ones.

Gahhhh! I can't even stand the smell of them! Hubbie however loves to take a can in his lunchbox. And yes.... he works outdoors! LOL!

29cathie 04-10-2011 03:30 PM

Love them but only a certain brand.

BellaBoo 04-10-2011 04:25 PM

They are so good for you. I rather eat fillets though, not as strong tasting or strong smelling and no heads. I like them with saltines every once in a while. Never cooked in anything or eaten with other foods.
My kids use to eat them for snacks after school with green olives and crackers. It was funny how many of their friends had never tasted them. The girls seem to like them much better then the boys.

In the Philippines, when we were young, only very poor people eat sardines, in can. But whenever we have them, it was a treat for us, esp if you put a little soy sauce & lemon & eat it with hot dinner rolls. Nowadays, canned sardines are so expensive, poor folks cannot afford them. They are exported here to the US & other countries, where folks like us enjoy them.

STINKY!!!!!

vschieve 04-13-2011 06:32 PM

Just ate a can of them! I always keep them handy for nights when I am home alone sewing and don't want to take out much time to eat. I like them in olive oil. WILL NOT do SOY-soy anything.
