Mine was The Platters, The Great Pretender. I bought the 45 and then when the 78 albums came out I bought it and actually wore the record out to nothing. I do have a CD that I am playing right now.
My Great Grandmother had a record player that you had to wind up, up in her attic. I would go there for 2 weeks in the summer and play the records. THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES !!!! |
Venus by Frankie Avalon or Pat Boone can't remember the title it was soooo long ago

"I heard it through the Grapevine" by Marvin Gaye. My sisters and I wore a hole in the living room carpeting dancing to this song.

It was a 45 RPM record of He's So Fine by the Chiffons (doo lang doo lang) lol! O my gosh, showing my age...must have been early to mid 1960s :).

I can't really remember the first record I bought, but I have 3 popcorn tins full of memories, both originally mine & flea mkt / yard sale finds. :-P

Well, in 2nd grade I received my first record player. I played Rock around the Clock on a 33rpm. I think these were birthday gifts. Don't remember when or what I first purchased.

"That's Why" by Pat Wayne (John Wayne's son) never made it big - but boy was he a good looking teenster!
Second one was Van Cliburn playing Tchaikovsky |
