Ohmigosh this heat is crazy!!!!! It's 97 with a heat index of 112 derees. I need to go to town but it's too hot. Ppl around here are not used to this kind of weather. All it does is remind me of Cali heat.

sharon b 08-03-2010 11:06 AM

It has been a hot miserable summer every where from what I hear  Still hot and humid here , waiting for a break, but NOT waiting for winter

Heard you guys were getting clobbered again! Sorry to hear it.

cjomomma 08-03-2010 11:08 AM

After dealing with this I'm ready for snow and lots of it.

It's redicilous. All this heat and no rain. Even the trees and bushes are suffering.

HeatherQuilts 08-03-2010 11:12 AM

It's hot and humid here in Minnesota, too. 91 degrees with a heat index of 96. (I think it feels a LOT hotter, though!)
Is it September yet?? I'm not a big fan of summer.....

hobo2000 08-03-2010 11:15 AM

We had that 4 ft snow in Jan, Feb & March and now last week 115 heat index in Wash. DC. Broke every kind of record for the day, week month year last time1912. Most of the high rises don't have windows that open and, of course, as luck would have it that was the same week we had no electric. One of my friends, over 70, lives on the 12th floor, no elevator, sit out on the balcony with pillowcases of ice on her. walked once a day up and down to get the ice. At least, in the winter with no electric you could get enough clothes on to keep warm but in the summer, forget it. We took showers with our clothes on and then go sit on the porch...only way to cool off.

LeeAnn 08-03-2010 11:20 AM

It's hotter than a pot of collards! teehee. Saturday the heat index was a whopping 121 degrees. We're cooler today, only 117. Whew.

shikha 08-03-2010 11:41 AM

OMG here I wish exactly opposite. Mumbai is full of rains this time of the year and I am begging to God to stop it as I just can't go anywhere. The transportation gets miserable in rains.

craftmama 08-03-2010 11:47 AM

Hot and Humid here. Average is 97 degrees and sticky.

I'm hearing that from our son. He and DDIL live on the 18th floor of an apt. building in Crystal City. I teased them all winter about skiing off the balcony! I don't have the heart to tease him now 'cause I'm in the cool NE, at least for 1 one week.

CAKELSEY 08-03-2010 11:57 AM

Looks like it is 102 right now. supposed to be 106 today and 107 tomorrow. looks like we might be in for one of those long streaks of 100+ for a while.

jacee kay 08-03-2010 12:04 PM

We are in triple digits and it looks like it will continue
thru next week.

Theresa 08-03-2010 12:08 PM

Gosh, let's trade locations! lol The Pacific NW (Willamette Valley) has only seen 4 +90 degree days this summer.

quiltykitty 08-03-2010 12:10 PM

It is 104 right now and should be 106 by five or six here north of Dallas. Stiffling outside. But, at least our humidity is not really bad. Sort of puts a crimp in doing stuff in the middle of the day.

newquilter10 08-03-2010 12:50 PM

Hotter than blue blazes here too. Have had heat advisories all day but hear a new one on the way home from Moonshine, extreme heat advisory, natural temp of 105 and heat index of 120. It usually does not do that here either.

Juliebelle 08-03-2010 12:54 PM

We have it here in NC too last week we finally got some rain and a few cool days in the upper 80's but before that it was 103 with a heat index of 112 and by the end of the week it is supposed to be near 100 again. It is summer in the south and the ladies are glowing ha ha---I don't glow I sweat!! :) :)

Same here in Fort Worth, 103. I really could stand 115 degrees of dry heat better than I can 90 with humidity. I can't stand it when it is humid, I can't breathe, my skin feels like a frog or a snake, it's always damp. Give me dry heat any day.

cjomomma 08-03-2010 01:07 PM

We just hit 100 with an index of 115 degrees.

TNAngel 08-03-2010 01:15 PM

It is hot and miserable in TN also....I work nights and there is no air conditioning, so it is miserable hot in the warehouse. You literally have to peel your clothes off of you when you get home. I can't wait for this heat to get over with. It has been a very hot summer.

I hear that! Its the same here, hot, humid, muggy, yuck! Thank goodness for AC!

cjomomma 08-03-2010 01:29 PM

I can hear thunder and see the clouds but it's staying to the east of us. Please Lord bring the rain?

Candace 08-03-2010 01:29 PM

Wow, you guys must be stealing all the heat. Here in CA. a bit south of Sacramento, we've had one of the coolest summers I can remember!

redkimba 08-03-2010 01:29 PM

Just trying to deal with the 102 degree heat here. I did discover the joy of fruit smoothies. I'm starting to use those for dinner instead of cooking. :)

Rosyhf 08-03-2010 01:29 PM

Well it's 90 here in Longwood florida. We are about 50 miles from the ocean and there is a little breeze blowing and it' not bad in my shaded yard, especially when I let the dogs out. We don't stay out too long and I only go out went I have to lol.

I don't mind the heat as long as I can stay cool in the house and car. I dont' like winter and the cold.

lab fairy 08-03-2010 01:33 PM

We were above 100 by noon today. I quit looking after that. Oh well, I wanted "dried" basil anyway.

Eddie 08-03-2010 01:33 PM

It was 109 degrees on my way home down the interstate yesterday per my car's thermometer. Today was a bit cooler, it was only 108 degrees. Heat indexes are about 115 or so. Basically, you just drive as fast as you can from point A to point B, no lollygagging in between.

RevPam 08-03-2010 01:49 PM

I keep prayin' (and I mean prayin') for a cold snap! I tease my elderly parishoners and say, "You go to Florida for THIS?"

fun2quilt 08-03-2010 02:04 PM

Man, here I have been griping that it hasn't been warm enough. I still think that, my thermometer hasn't even hit 90 this summer. I guess that is one of the benefits to living so close to Lake MI, although it sure makes for a lot of snow in the winter! I think right now it is only 80 out side. Time to drag the hubby out for a walk! Stay cool everyone!

Pinkbutterflyquilter 08-03-2010 02:21 PM

Its Summer and all we can do is sit in front of a fan or on top of a bag of ice! I am looking forward to Fall already!
Melted in Texas

sbrown04 08-03-2010 02:23 PM

I can tell you now...no complaints from me should it ever get cool again...Alabama summers are not easy to endure but we make it...but this year? It has been BRUTAL! Not even sweet tea helps on days like this...heat index is 114!

Luv Quilts and Cats 08-03-2010 02:24 PM

We are going into 90's again the next 2 days with high humidity. Dog days of August, no doubt. I keep dreaming of September and October, crisp fall weather, bluer than blue skies, the colorful leaves, apples, pumpkins, baking again because it is cool enough to....oh my, I am getting ahead of myself I guess. Not a fan of summer.

leaha 08-03-2010 02:41 PM

5PM 102 in my part of KY, went into Paducah today lots of stops, poor air on my truck got persinicky on me needed a rest. WAS so HOT!!!

cjomomma 08-03-2010 02:41 PM

I guess we are suffering for the most part. I finally went to town but the airconditioner didn't seem to help much. I'm debating on whether or not to go work out with it being so hot. Our electricity tried to go out twice, boy I really started praying then. You all stay safe out there.

Jim's Gem 08-03-2010 02:43 PM

Well, it's been a cool summer. 71 and 58% humidity, sunny clear blue skies. Sorry everyone!!!

I froze last night, had the ceiling fan on low and the window open and got really cold and had to pull up the quilt.

Yesterday afternoon I was at my land in SE Texas (about an hour north of Houston) and went to use the porta potty (bathroom in travel trailer gave up several years ago) which is right out in the sun...nearly fried my tush!
