i may get yelled at for it but i'm just going to delete any new violations i find. anything else just sets you guys up for more confusion.

people are still allowed to post in GCC as long as they stay within the current policy for GCC.

it's only the new posts that don't meet current policy that have stirred the pot for the past few days. only new violations will get deleted.

patience, grasshoppers. this too shall pass.

Until the new guidelines are posted, the old ones are in effect.
I'll update the guidelines and only leave one sticky at the top, so it's more visible.

I've been doing a little informal research. Not purely scientific, but as close as i can get at this hour of the morning. The numbers you see are from some similar quilting forums i've found online. Our statistics are on the last four lines of the chart. I couldn't find enough stats on the other boards to do a similar analysis for all of them.

Considering the number of posting members we have; the number of most active posters; and the total number of posts; and the averages per poster it's no wonder we step on each other's toes once in a while.

this only serves to prove what we've know all along. we ARE the best.

P.S. i do see some inconsistencies in our totals, but i'm sure the general indications would hold up if they were corrected. totals associated with #s of posts by individuals add up to more than the grand total shown on our home page. the poster totals include the obsolete GCC posts that were cleared out a month or so ago.

I give up on waiting--I have questions I need to ask others about our recent loss of a pet--I'm going to ask elsewhere. :?

Wow Patrice - we ROCK!!! And I'm confident that we'll get all our issues sorted AND continue to be the best forum on the 'net. :D

Here are some stats directly from the database.

This is the number of posts per day for the past 30 days, as an overview of the current activity on the board:

2009-07-27 1565
2009-07-26 1301
2009-07-25 1259
2009-07-24 1312
2009-07-23 1442
2009-07-22 1417
2009-07-21 1190
2009-07-20 1199
2009-07-19 1440
2009-07-18 1326
2009-07-17 1083
2009-07-16 1442
2009-07-15 1220
2009-07-14 1185
2009-07-13 1241
2009-07-12 917
2009-07-11 916
2009-07-10 1036
2009-07-09 1374
2009-07-08 1796
2009-07-07 2069
2009-07-06 2104
2009-07-05 1480
2009-07-04 1432
2009-07-03 1672
2009-07-02 1639
2009-07-01 1513
2009-06-30 1330
2009-06-29 1355
2009-06-28 1244

As you can see, reviewing and moderating each and every post is close to impossible. That's why it's important for users to help us in keeping this place clean and fun for everybody.

And here is a number of posts per month since when the board was established:

2009-07 37719
2009-06 36394
2009-05 30987
2009-04 26144
2009-03 24123
2009-02 16741
2009-01 18192
2008-12 11615

2008-07 14432
2008-06 12997
2008-05 10914
2008-04 9289
2008-03 8314
2008-02 7545
2008-01 6471
2007-12 4370
2007-11 3806
2007-10 4812
2007-09 4716
2007-08 4281
2007-07 2953
2007-06 1806
2007-05 1977
2007-04 2355
2007-03 2914
2007-02 1514
2007-01 1547

With almost 4 full days left in July (I'm using eastern time zone), we should hit (or be close to) 40,000 posts this month.

The board is clearly growing, which is great. But it also means that keeping things in check is only going to get harder.

I agree with Patrice, with so much posting going around. It's no wonder some people will step on each others toes.

That's why the guidelines need to be revised from time to time.

I updated the GCC guidelines. Let's test it out and see how things progress.

I'm going to lock this topic, but keep it around for reference.
