You have my sympathy. I don't know how you live with that. This gives us a bit of perspectivehere in the US.
I do believe people here drive greater communter distances than in The Netherlands? We definitely need to get smaller, more efficient cars here though.

I remember pulling in and asking for a dollars worth! That would last for a couple nights cruising the town. Imagine doing that today. For one, who'd you ask, second why bother. If times were tough, a quarter got you a couple hours of time. Oh, for the good old days. Did I really just say that?

When I was in Junior High, I remember gas was 19 cents a gallon. However, I also remember I worked at the local drug store for 35 cents and hour. You could buy a soda pop ( aka coke, dr pepper, orange crush and others ) for 5 cents, a loaf of bread for 20 cents and a pack of cigarettes for 25 cents. It was 10 cents to go to the movies on Saturday afternoon and 5 cents for a bag of pop corn. While prices were really low, you still couldn't buy much on 35 cents an hour. LOL

I just want to say I have several gas cards in my wallet currently, all gotten free off the internet. Rewards points through a bank I used to have, rewards points from credit cards (signup bonuses), rewards for taking surveys. In these tough times you have to do what you need to do. Every little bit helps.
