I used to call them trollies in New Zealand. Learnt to say carts pretty quick I tell you! My DH calls the buggies. I've never heard of them as wagons though!

No good deed goes unpunished.

Run up an alley and holler fish.

LOL! My husband has always had a kooky side about him! He's forever ribbing and hard-timing everyone. He's just a real joker by heart and really witty.

I believe hollering fish may be from people who sold them from carts in the street, however I don't get the running up an alley part.

When one farmer would offer a wage to help and another offered a better wage, we would take the latter because"It made the cheese more binding". How about "As helpful as a screen door on a submarine", and "Don't that just take the cake"? Remember when girls were a bit "fast" and ended up "in a family way". My Mother In Law said something was old when "It was around when Homer was a pup." Never knew who Homer was. "She is a Pain and he is a Headache so they deserve each other." She is as happy as "a mule eating brambles". Can't see the forest for the trees. (More when they surface in my brain, this is fun)

I remember 6's and 7's from the song in the movie "Evita". Think it means undecided.

What about "that don't amount to a hill of beans!" meaning something is useless.

I think they were talking about Homer from Greek mythology.
