We have a screen door, and enjoy it in the spring and fall on cooler days. We're planning to replace it with one of the storm doors that has a sliding panel over the screen soon, because I love the extra light and would like to have the main door open more often.

Texas is too hot for screen doors. But, give me an old-fashioned wooded screen door any day....and if you could attach it to an old farmhouse, that would be appreciated! :) :)

Because it is hot, humid and if there is a breeze it is hot.

Reading these posts about the heat and humidity (we have the snow and the cold) I think about what the settlers had to endure. They were hardy folks, compared to them I feel like a sissy! But I love the modern conveniences!

i put this on my screen door..got it at either lowes or home depot..keeps the grandson (9 months) from pushing through it and the dogs from slitting the screen..just hve to screw it on the frame..you really don't notice it from the outside..

I live in Texas, too. We have screen doors on four doors and can get good cross-ventilation when it's not too hot. (anything under 85º) We enjoy the fresh air. We do keep our screen doors locked and have a little four-footed alarm system. Couldn't stand to be in a closed up house all the time.

Somewhere between Nov and Feb, we have enough days to open doors and windows for fresh (?) air. Once summer starts (this year in Mar), until it's end (maybe late Oct early Nov), it's AC only.
