Default Screen Shots

I am so excited to have learned how to do these!

On my iMac:

Hold down together:

Command + Shift + 4 - and then select the area with the "select/drag" symbol -
Soon as I release the keys - I hear a click and the screen shot is on the desktop screen.

To open the screen shot - double click on it.\

This works great for "grabbing" just a picture of a quilt, or unwanted ads, or just one or two quotes.

I have Windows and I just hit the "prntScr" button at the back of my keyboard. It used to send the jpeg to my desktop, then it sent to Dropbox after I added that, but since I deleted Dropbox I have a hard time finding my print. Sometimes it is on clipboard, sometimes it is hidden forever! So I installed "fireshot"....it always works and I can save to wherever I want.

I use the snipping tool in Windows. I like that I can select the area I want saved, rather than get the whole screen. Then I can save it, email it, or even write on it from within the snipping tool.

I'm quite computer illiterate, so: What's the snipping tool?

I learn amazing things reading this message board. Thank you Dunster for the "snipping tool" link.

I have taken several computer classes. I have learned almost zilch. For one thing, they never have the same program I have, and when I get home, it doesn't work on my computer.
I've never heard of screen shots. I have no idea what you are talking about. It's all Greek to me. LOL
