I would love to be a dress size down by the holidays. I'm still not sure how to make holiday food that's healthier, I guess I should learn some new recipes. LOL

Thanks for some snack ideas, I have been having some almonds or these rice chips, but my brain wasn't thinking of anything else that sounded good. I'll have to get dark chocolate, I have a sweet tooth, so it's hard to get rid of.

I've been good so far, had a nice Asian salad yesterday with raisins and chow mein noodles that is my new favorite meal. We bought some broccoli slaw which doesn't taste too awful with tuna either. LOL I am finding myself a little more tired around 2-3 as my body readjusts. I used to find myself eating snacks to get energy around that time. (Then eating snacks in the evening after dinner.)

It sounds like everyone is doing really well so far, so keep up the good work.
Oh good. We'll have to keep an eye on you.I'd like to see you break that 200 pound barrier.I remember when I broke it.I was extatic! From 250 pounds,to 200.Then I got to 190.then 180.I was really excited then. Then 170,and finely,160 is where I'm hovering now. So,I know how it feels to get to 200,then 199.Oh,that's motivation enough right there to stay with it this month. So,we'll all help you get there.Congrats!Lets get your ticker up 10 pounds this month and get you past the 200,into the 190's!!!!!!!!!!!

In summer when fresh veggies & fruit are around,I often have fruit or veggie sticks with red pepper hummus. If I have cake or cookies, the cake is a very small piece & cookies are held to 2-3 with 1/2 cup of skim milk.A square of dark chocolate, pretzels or baked chips are good. I make my own 100 cal packs of chips & pretzels.....& have cut up candy bars.I like the portion control of LF ice cream bars & cups. Can't use artifical sweetners due to migranes.

Hummus is made with canned, drained chick peas as a base. There are many recipes out there.I use less/or none of the tahini called for & always fold in very fine dice red peper...or roasted red pepper (water packed). There's lots of protein in hummus,so it's a great snack with whatever dippers your food plan allows. You can put it on a soft taco then add veggies on top as a sandwich, use as a dip or spread.I like this site because they give nutrition info & also reviews from ppl who've made the recipe.
You can buy hummus at most delis, but it's much cheaper to make at home.I started by trying at a deli, then to making my own.Keep tightly covered in fridge & yum yum :D :D

What is hummis>I see a lot of people eat it,but haven't a clue as to what it is.I see some make their own.Is it a spread? Thanks

Oh,ok.I'll have to try it.I just heard about it last month on u-tube,but didn't know what it was even.Sounds like there's a lot you can do with it.Thanks so much. We'll give it a go and see if I like it.I saw some used it for their mayo.

Oh,you lucky girl,Wished I'd a grew up eating it!Yum!I love corn chowder.

We don't sign up,we just do it.It's for motivation.I find if we set a goal number for the month, like 5 pounds, then I work like heck to get it off,and if I lose more great, but at least I have to lose 5 pounds.Because when I do it every month,it adds up after awhile.

We have 2 lobsters left so I am looking up receipes -- that hopefully won't be floating in butter. I guess I won't be losing any this week. But it was a treat -- and I only ate one -- not 2

So I think of it as that 1 slice of bacon treat.

Living on the shore in Maine has local treats -- like so many other parts of the country.
Oh YUM,Lobster.Well, that's ok.It's ok to eat a nice dinner. You can make up for it later on.Steve says that it's not what we eat today,or even yesterday,it's an accumulation over time.So if you back it off in a few days and keep at it,you'll not even know you did it.Just cut some calories somewhere else to make up for it.So,enjoy!
1 pound is great.That's 3500 calories,so is great.

Wow,that broccoli slaw sounds good actually, and with the tuna will give protein so will boost your energy.I'm going to try some.

Ok,well oldcottontop won the challenge at 18 pounds,so we are going to have to kick it up a notch girls.I have a 5 pound challenge, and irishrose has a 2 pound challenge. Both are achievable goals that all of us can meet or beat.2 pounds is good for those who want to lose a little weight at a time, and is an achievable number. That's 1/2 or .50lb a week loss.Mine is a 5 pound challenge and is 1.25 pounds a week for those of us who need to lose more a little quicker. Also a duable number,Heck I haven't lost any for 2 months now.Mj said anybody over 4 pounds to email her,and I couldn't even do that.Pitiful really. So I got some catching up to do.I'd a been happy at 2 pounds the last 2 months myself. But we didn't put any challenges out.So think this will help us to work a little harder at it.There are no prizes for the challenges, other than bragging rights to tell your friends and loved ones you did it.So,share your tips and secrets and plans your doing. For most of us it's a life style change as we need to break old bad habits and make new healthy ones.Myself,I plan on more vegetables and fruits and low calorie meals. And I'm going to start eating out of a bowl again.I eat way less and get full and don't overeat that way.I fill it with green salad, then top it with a few bites off hubby's dinner, and no bread.I lost a lot doing that.Anyway, good luck ladies and this month we will lose a ton of weight. We should do the pound for pound challenge for the biggest loser. Then I know,we'd lose weight cause they'd meet it with food for the hungry for every pound we lose.Americans would get food in that amount. So,let's get er done this month! And see just how much we can lose as a group! Then we can sign up and feed the hungry!that's right,LET'S GET ER DONE!!!!!!!!!!So MJ can enter us.
