I like to bake my own. There are two problems with that: (1) when it is fresh baked, it's easy to butter and eat too much and (2) since there are no preservatives in it, some of it is bound to go to waste because I can't eat it fast enough. froggyintexas

That is too funny. I don't have a bread machine or bake without it because I am powerless over fresh bread. I told my family never to get me a bread machine because I would quit life and bake and eat and bake and eat and after a while they would have to remove a wall to get me out!!!

We have been purchasing unsliced French bread from our local WalMarts for $1 a loaf. It tastes like fresh baked bread and they will slice it free. We prefer it unsliced.

Just curious. If you make bread in the bread machine can you not cut it in half and freeze the rest so that it doesn't have a chance to mold?

With less preservatives there is faster spoilage. Less preservatives added to our food is a good thing for us.

I agree with Stitchnripper! If I had warm bread from the bread machine, I could eat the whole thing with a stick of butter. And I'm already fat enough already! My husband would come home and say he smelled bread. Huh? There's no bread here!

I've been buying Rudi's Ancient Grains bread in the gluten free section. Very pricey but so good. We eat less bread these days anyway because of the change in how wheat is being grown. I like thin bread with lots of texture. Can't stand that white gluey bread.
