I'd rather see snakes than rats!!! I really don't mind snakes (unpoisonous, of course.) I usually take pictures of them.

About 15 yrs ago we lived on a property that had the largest king snake ever but no rattlers. Where we live now we have some monsterous gopher snakes and rattlers. Oh did you have to remind me of them? The weather is warming up so they are all waking up from their winter nap. Yuck! Last Spring DH found a baby rattler in our yard. My children play there every day.

Well the landscaper was working and we found 4 of these snakes coming out of the bushes. I told my husband on the first one to take it away. Then 1/2 hr passed and I went out on the patio and another one was wrapped around my grandson's bike seat. The landscaper took them away down by his house 12 miles and turned them lose by the river. I think we still have one because my grandson saw it last yr in some other bushes. King snakes keep rattle snakes away but I don't want 4 or 5. I am glad we don't have the bushes anymore.

We haven't seen any rattlers here but we do have copperheads. Unfortunately a young Black Rat Snake looks very similar to a copperhead.

I'd blow away in the storm before I would go down there.

Put some sulphur down around your storm shelter. When I had chickens, I had trouble with snakes. After I sprinkled the suphur around the chicken house, no more snakes in that area. That ought to keep them away.
