I'll probably get the regular flu vaccine as I work with people with disabilities, but I'll forgo the swine flu vaccine. My hubby rarely gets any shots...doesn't like needles.

That's probably right, we don't go out as much either in crowds, maybe that helps. Usually do my shopping first thing so not many out then. I just don't want any flu at all!!!!

I have many relatives in the medical field. All have said no to taking the vaccine. What they have told me, if you are healthy the swine flu will be easier on you then the possible effects of the vaccine. It's a personal choice, I hope it will be........ Youngest daughter was exposed to the swine flu a month ago, she felt bad for a couple of days, not enough to be bed ridden. The Dr. said it probably was swine flu but didn't test her after the fact. He didn't seem that alarmed about it, said she was in good health. He gave me and the family a prescription for Tamiflu if we wanted to take it.

Bella, my grandson has just had swine flu confirmed, and his two sisters also have the same symptoms. They didn't have swabs done for tests, as by that time, my daughter was reluctant to take them to the Dr. and spread any possible viruses further. So far, my grandson has had his symptoms since last Wednesday, and he still has a temperature, sore throat and cough, though he is managing to eat a little more and says he is beginning to feel better. My question is, how long does it usually last? Does anyone know please?

I will decide after discussion with myMD. I understand the elderly of which I am a member, have a lesser chance of getting the flu. Mostly younger children through collage age are the prime target for getting the shots.

Not unless it becomes a widespread epidemic and maybe not even then.

I also don't get the recommended flu shots. I've read that once you start getting them, you become more susceptible to flu and have to keep getting the shots.

I spent most of my childhood winters being sick with one flu after another. I know some are much worse than garden variety flu, but I don't really mind them that much.
