There is a product by L'Oreal called Effasol [sp?] that mixed with water should remove enogh of the dark color that you can put another lighter shade over it. Since the offending dark color is a "fader" you should only have to use the water, not the peroxide option. You might even like the result without having to color over the remaining stain.
When in cos school, the color instructors used to say that home color products were a boon for the salon. Most people don't read all of the directions included and end up with all kinds of problems. Cha Ching! That said color correction was my fave thing to do in the salon, like a puzzle and when I could make the client happy it made my day!

I had a friend (really a friend not me) that dyed her hair blacker than black she went to a fancy hair place and they suggested using Dawn Dish Soap to lighten it. In her case it worked just a little but she used permanent dye. Might work better on Non Permanet good luck

As a retired hairdresser (and color was my specialty] I would say bite the bullet and good to a salon and get it fixed right---remember hair grows really fast when you like it and slower than h--- when you don't---when I did multi-colors I never pre-mixed any till I was ready to apply it---when color oxidizes in the bottle it is impossible to tell which one is which---lots of luck

Really? Dawn dish soap? I have that in my kitchen. I think I'll try that since it's free. Thanks.

Whatever you do, do NOT use any products meant for professional use, like effasol, or a stripper on your hair. There is a reason why they are supposed to be sold only to professionals. You will make the problem worse. Wash your hair with dish soap, and then condition well. Luckily, you used a semi permanent, which will fade mostly. As it is a dark color, it will take much longer to fade than a lighter color. Dark pigments hold on longer. Really, if I were you, I'd let the salon fix it, but I understand wanting to do it yourself.

I'm going to try suggestions I've gotten here.
    1. Wash my hair with Dawn dish soap a few times
    2. if that doesn't work fast enough I'll just redye it with one color (the darker color) in the back. I'll leave my bangs alone. Maybe after they fade with the Dawn they'll end up lighter than the back after the re-dye.
    3. Go to a salon if the above fails or if I have to go somewhere important. :D
    Thanks y'all

Have you called the service number on the box of coloring? I have had a few color mishaps and the customer service reps are trained to know what to do.The last time I had a mishap they told NOT to recolor as it makes it worse. They said to use a cleansing shampoo, VO5 has one and to keep shampooing it every day . I would call the customer service number for the brand you used as they may have a different solution.

    Good Luck
