Warning Tip for Dangerous Websites!!!!!!!!
#13
This also happened to me. They were all quilt sites. Also the malware looks real and if you don't know better it will shut down your computer. Had 3 computers this happened to before we fiqured it out. Reboot your computer and make sure you have a good virus protection program. Thanks for sharing thought I was the only one having this problem.

It's enough to make you afraid to click on any link. This virus happened to me back in March and DH ended up, months later and many fix attempts later, having to completely wipe my hard drive clean -- down to nothing. Then spent days reloading everything. It was a nightmare, but so far so good on the 'new' computer.

I have had this happen on quilting sites, and other's too when doing research.
The key is to have a good computer program that will alert you BEFORE you get to the site
Mine throws up a warning letting me know not to go there :D:D:D

gday, Can i make a suggestion, that's if you haven't already seen or heard of this. I have this loaded onto my computer and when searching for anything at all, "WOT" advises by the colour circle what is safe and what isn't. It has been trustworthy so far and i have it on both my computers (laptop) for over 3 yrs now. http://www.mywot.com/en/settings/en-...08/guide#guide
it might help, see what you think. Penny :)

You got me scared so I downloaded a malware program and ran it and it found 2 infected files. So, I decided to do the same on my daughter's computer. It found 252!!!!! OMG. No wonder she was having problems with her computer!
DH won't let me touch his computer so I guess he has to suffer!

First, thanks for the alert. It really is worth the extra second it takes to notice Google's warning about a website being a risk.
However, it doesn't mean the entire website is a bad one. It may only mean that a legitimate website somehow got some infected files loaded onto it. You can click on the Google warning to see exactly why they're warning you about it. For example, you may be able to read and post to a forum on the website, but not download patterns.
Also, the "=" in a web address is NOT an indicator of malware. If you're reading this now, take a look at the bar at the top of your browser, and you'll see an "=" in the web address here.
It's a normal piece of the web address.
All that said, I echo everyone who advises prevention by protecting your computer with anti-malware software.
