I get the CDs mysteries and such from my local library.
No, but sound bothers me!! (lol) In addition to caring for my mom, my youngest son is autistic. He is constantly in motion and repeats sounds and noises. He loves TV commercials and will repeat them over and over again. Mind you, I'm not complaining. He is a delight. But his voice is very loud and I'm constantly reminding him to turn down the volume! My reading time is my quiet time. It's when I get to hear my own brain think!!!

The Girls from Ames

Fiction: The Turtle Warrior, by Mary Relindes Ellis

And my universal recommendation: Emma, by Jane Austen. I must have read this dozens of times, in parts. I know it so well that I can begin on any page! Kept me sane through law school.

I also enjoyed the series called His Dark Materials. The books are The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass.

It is so good of you to sit up with your Mom. You are a blessing to her.
Thanks for your kind words. You've made some really good suggestions and I'll check into them. This post has been so informative and I've gotten some excellent suggestions for books to read. I'm very thankful to everyone that has responded to my question.

In regency romances, Geogette Heyer's Fredrica, or The Grand Sophy. Action, James Patterson Run For Your Life. Andre Norton's Star Man's Son. John Sandford's Sudden Prey. I just finished a Preston-Child's book Cold Vengence that was absolutly great with action, and suspence, but it is only the second in a trilogy. The third one is at least a year away from being released.

Lately I have discovered CJ Lyons. The "Angels of Mercy" stories are on the medical side but really good. Some are also mysteries. Excellent author. Also, James Patterson, John Sanford - excellent mystery authors.
