Default what to do

Went to florida for winter, staying in a fifth wheel and made a big mistake. I didn't bring my sewing machine or any crafty things to do. I feel lost without it. Lots of activities here to do but not ones I am interested in doing. Don't know anyone and my husband doesn't want to do anything but watch fox news. Need some ideas of what to do. Thank you in advance for any replys.

Is there a fabric store in the area? If so it might be time to start a hand paper pieced hexie project for Grandmother Flower Garden quilt? You could also start a hand embroidery project. How about a Walmart? They have pre-cuts/needles/threads etc. and wool if you can crochet or knit.

Treat yourself to a travel machine!

If you have a 5th wheel, chances are you are going to be travelling other times too, and faced with the same dilemma. Find a basic machine that will let you do the kind of sewing you would like to do, when away from home and be prepared for much happiness for yourself for many more road trips to come!

Sounds like a perfect opportunity for English Paper Piecing to me. I love to work on them when we are traveling and camping. There may be a place (fabric store, library, quilt guild) where you could rent/borrow a machine, too.

I'd head for the Goodwill stores looking for a used portable machine--inexpensive and you'll find other needed supplies there as well. You'll be creating a masterpiece in no time.

Find a Walmart and buy a smaller machine and some fabric and start a quilt.

i would probably get some preprinted embroidery squares and work on those... they don't take up much room

If you have fabric how about applique. If you have no fabric cut up some cotton shirts to join together.

Exactly what I was going to suggest! Or, if that's not in the budget, as others have suggested, a hand piecing project.
