When does one become "elderly"?
#71
This is my 61st year on this earth. I would probably be called elderly by some people. And, if I go by Lavenderblue's description, I was elderly past weekend when I casually tripped over a curb. The people I was with were not laughing, they were trying to help me up and asking me if I was okay.
However I agree with most people here that age is a matter of mind. I mind the newer aches and pains, but I have never felt as old as the numbers say.
Happy Day

I've been using endearments instead of names for the people I love for most of my adult life. My grand niece and nephew (then 6 & 7) wanted to know why I called them "Darling Boy", "Sweetness" and other terms of endearment.
My answer was that when I call them by a love name I can't be angry with them.
It also makes it easy to avoid going through "the list" of all possible real names when you want to address one of them!

I think elderly is when you can't physically get around as easily as you did before. My mom was at the age of 80 walking every day 45 min to the grocery store and back, total 90 minutes, without a cane, carrying two heavy bags of groceries home without any help. How do I know the bags of groceries were heavy? I was visiting her and I thought the bags were heavy for me when I took them from her when she got home.
