I put the cart in the cart corral. When I arrive at the store, I take a cart from the corral and push it to the store. It's my way of test driving a cart to be sure that I don't get wobbly wheels. If it wobbles, then I exchange it for a different cart.

Yes, I always park next to a place designated for the carts. Makes it easier especially if it's raining.
