Printers are cheap. I saw one today at Walmart for $35. A Lexmark. HP cartridges can be refilled, that's why they put a return package in the new ink boxes. When the plating gets scratched after repeated use then you have to buy a new cartridge. Walgreens here will refill ink cartridges, I don't know if all Walgreens do.

I got into the phone book under computer repair, and asked them where to get cheap ink for my Canon. I found a local place that has reconditioned cartridges for about half of what Walmart costs are. $8.99 vs $16.99. Mine takes 5 cartridges, so this is much easier to pay for.

My husband seems to "drink" ink. I recycle the the empties at Staples and get a credit and they are always having specials on the ink. Unfortunately it is still expensive but it keeps him busy as he has limited mobility.

I did a survey of several places on the internet, Staples, Office Depot, and many others. I found 2 that were really cheap. (I did this for work and saved a bundle!)

I mostly use this one: www.4inkjets.com they have a good supply of low cost toner/ink. I think the other one I use is: www.inkjetsuperstore.com, but I'd have to look at work.
Sometimes the shipping is FREE!!

I also went to Walgreens and they can refill them but when I did mine I had problems with it and took it back and got $$$ back. I think it was like $9.00 or so.

I've heard that refilled cartridges can cause problems to the printer too.
I just bite the bullet and go to Office Max. Tried the refills for $10.00 and it last two weeks. Went through a lot recently, as I have been downloading quilt patterns. LOL....

You can also purchase online directly from HP. I do not know the prices.
