We do every other year with kids and grands. This is the off year, so we came to our cabin for a few days. We were going to invite neighbors over, but DH suggested we just cook and eat alone. We are cooking extra for a few days of easy meals. Turkey is my very favorite meal and I love making soup, pot pie and so on with the leftovers. I thought it would be a little lonely with just the two of us, but am loving the relaxation. Guess I didn't realize how stressed we have been lately.

My DD and #3 son's significant other did all the cooking - huge turkey, 3 hams, 2 kinds of stuffing, broccoli rice casserole, green bean casserole, candied yams (with pineapple, pecans and marshmallows), mashed taters, pecan pie and pumpkin pie. I made iced tea, stuffed celery and cut the cranberry sauce. Various others brought additional pies, 12 packs of soda, and provided the bonfire. Not sure how many people we actually had as there were folks coming and going all afternoon. Know there were at least 30. Beautiful sunshine and warmer temp (mid 50s) made it an even more delightful day.
And we have one whole ham left for sandwiches next week. WhooHoo!

We went to our son's house for Thanksgiving - my mother was there, along with my daughter's family. There were 16 of us around the table -- what a blessing to be able to spend that time with family!

Well its all done and over this year, Thanksgiving that is. we had 26 we were wall to wall, DH and I love doing it though, everyone brings something we do the basics. He is such good help right in it up to his elbows until the last guest leaves. It will take me until Christmas to recoup and then we will do it all again. LOL BTW Thanksgiving is our favorite holiday not as much commercialism, we do hate the fact that Black Friday has crept in to kinda spoil it though.

I cooked! Started yesterday, finished up today, and I love doing it. I could cook my holiday meal in my sleep! We have a ton of food and seven stuffed people. There will be leftovers for days! Hooray! I can shop or sew....

I feel the same way! Love Thanksgiving best because it's like Christmas without having to do all the gifts and decorating! It's totally "family" oriented, not commercial. It makes me sick that stores are opening for shopping on Thanksgiving Day, right after the dinner! If people wouldn't support this, they would stop. But that' probably won't happen.

I've enjoyed reading everyone's Thanksgiving plans for today.

I cooked all day and did all the clean up as well. Small kitchen and really not much room for helpers. But I am blessed to be healthy and able to do it. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
