Sounds familiar. I can put my finger on anything until I clean then it seems to magically disappear, sounds like the little gremlins that visit my house quite often.

Glad they turned up. I find the same thing happens when I clean my sewing room. You spend so much time pulling things out and looking for your lost item that it looks worse than when you cleaned. I was looking for my clothesline for doing a basket. Do you know where I found it? In my rolling travel case for my sewing machine. Why or why would I put it in there? I found it months later when my machine had to go to a workshop.

today I found a keyring with housekeys/mailbox key that I had lost over 3 years ago. We were on a trip and I thought I put my keyring in a pocket of a suitcase but couldn't find it when I got home. Today I was opening a suitcase and saw a hidden pocket, guess what was there????? Don't give up hope, the belts will show up.

Cleaning out closets is just something to think about - and not actually do until all the UFOs are finished and the stash gone -
