Are you a Collector?

Cookbooks, especially vintage ones. I love old hand written recipes. Once I bought a recipe book at a garage sale, and noticed a recipe where the writing was familiar. Turned out that it was from the grandmother of one of my colleagues. She passed away and her son gave it all to Goodwill. The book ended up in the garage sale where I bought it. Then I returned the book to my friend. Her mom was so happy to see the book again. She eventually gave it to me, it really is a treasure.

I love holiday decorations, and would buy anything santa. Had so much, stuff. Totes &boxes filled one bedroom and a large section of the garage. Then I got into the vintage sew machines. Last spring had dd's over and sent each hom with their trucks loaded. Still have some to get rid of, it is hard, but had to be done. Empty nesters and had so much "stuff" it was rediculous! Not as bad as the show "hoarders"but I could see it coming. LOL. Kept my favorites, and will visit the rest.

lol, my ebay name is quiltincollector! DH and I have both been bitten by the collecting bug. I have pink depression glass (Miss America pattern), vintage brooches ( Judy Lee), Santas and snowmen, and vintage toy sewing machines. DH collects vintage fishing lures and Jim Beam bottles. We have a great time at estate sales and it's nice to have something we can do together.

I collect nutcrackers and turtles. I inherited my MIL's thimble collection after she died. DH collects books, but iis willing to get rid of them since he now has a nook and a kindle. I bought him the kindle first and then found out you can check ebooks from the library and read them on the nook.

Grey hairs, fat cells, a little anger (feel I am entitled), lots of smiles, hugs from grandchildren, advice from children (I keep them stored in an air-tight container ie. head), years of memories, and dust.
Oh, and also teapots, angels, books, as well as too many ideas for quilting.
