Good afternoon and welcome from The Mississippi Gulf Coast. Originally from Chicago southside. I brought a brothers from Walmart. I have a Husqvarna Viking and a vintage singer machine.

A warm welcome from North Central Washington! If you are close to an area that has craigslist, that is another good source for a used machine. I have a Brother and a sewing friend who has the Project Runway Brother model and we love our machines.

Hi and Welcome to Illinois. I live near Peoria, if you are anywhere near let me know and maybe I can help out with your stash or what ever you need. I just gave my last extra machine away so right now I have none to give. Will keep my ears tuned for free or really reasonable used ones for you..Carol

Thanks all for the welcome and your recommendations! Other than Joann Fabrics...I'm not familiar with any local shops that offer classes or let you test drive machines. I'm near the Plainfield/Naperville/Joliet area so if any fellow Illinoisians know of somewhere...I'll gladly take suggestions. I have checked out craigslist, but people want more for the older machines than a brand new one would cost me! Will have to checkout goodwill!

Again, thanks for your recommedations and your welcome!

Welcome from Illinois! Central here. I would shop goodwill, craigslist, garage sales for an older machine. Singer! I would let your neighbor, friends and family know. Put the word out, Can't beat them! A 301 or a 15, is my favorite.
