My friend, Virginia Lynch, lives in Wincrest. I'll be watching for news of any quilting group in the area.

Welcome, Quiltinnana. Texas is a big state with lots of rural peo[ple as well as those in the big metropolitan areas. Are you a lonesome quilter, or do you have friends who quilt, also?

I am not a lonesome quilter...I have friends here that quilt and we share our books, tips, ideas, and we have made charity quilts together. I am not in a rural area.

Do you belong to a quilt guild, or is it just a loosely connected group of friends? It really does not matter. It is wonderful to have friends who quilt.

I did belong to a guild in Oklahoma but our trips have ended going up there....too far and one friend can't do it now due to health issues. We have a friend in Oklahoma who quilts , quilts, quilts and she belongs to this Guild is why we joined that one. My other friend here is joining her sister's Guild in Brazoria. They meet once a month. I may look into joining that one.. Thanks for the reply and Happy Quilting!! :D

You said that you belonged to a Guild in Oklahoma. Does that make you an Okie, or were you just a short time resident there? I was born in Oklahoma and lived there my first 25 years. I've lived here in Texas MUCH longer than the time I spent in Oklahoma, though. Guess that makes me more of a Texan. My cousin, Corrine S., is one of that prolific Oklahoma quilters.

Sorry to be so long answering your post. I was pretty sick for a while and didn't feel like getting on the computer.

In what part of San Antonio do you live? I live in Schertz but worked in San Antonio for 20 years before I retired in May 2000.

My stash of fabric is so large that at times it's hard for me to get to the sewing machine. I like different fabrics. My husband thinks I can make a quilt out of anything. When I'm headed for a garage sale, he usually tells me "No more fabric!!" I just can't resist a bargain, though. A couple of weeks ago, I bought 30 yards of fabric for $3.00 at a garage sale. That kind of a bargain is unusual, though. About 25 to 50 cents per yard is more common. I have also bought garments (usually cotton dresses with full skirts) and ripped them up for the fabric. I make small quilts and give them as gifts for new babies or give them to various charities. I've also made lap quilts for nursing home patients. The only bed size quilts I've made have been for our own use or for other family members.
