Default Hello from from Washington State! Longarmer. Need advce for photo quilt.

Hi to all! So glad to have found this forum! Some talented folks in the quilting world!!! I am rather new to longarming and have done mostly pantographs. I offered to quilt some lap quilts for seniors but having received them, I see they have photos scattered randomly among the blocks. I realize I shouldn't panto across the photos.....any advice? Has anyone combined panto with perhaps stitch n the ditch around the photos? Not sure how I would manage that....help!

Welcome aboard! Sadly even though I have access to a long arm, choosing quilting designs is a huge stumbling block for me. I just don't think in terms of the 3-D of quilting, my brain is still stuck in the 2-D of the piecework.

I will say that I recently made a lap quilt in celebration of a friend's retirement for quilting. It's very simple, just 8" finished squares representing each letter of the alphabet. Her name is Suzan and I had a friend help me photoshop a picture of her head onto a Supergirl clip art, and then I made the block into a snowball with Stars in the corner. It's going to be awkwardly placed but I did decide to just do outlined S which will (most likely) go through my friend's face... Sometimes there are no good answers

Maybe use a clear thread and simple quilting?

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. I would not quilt over the photos but stitch around them and do panto for the rest.
