Welcome to the board from Illinois.
I know we have other board members with vision issues. Maybe as time goes on they will have some tips for you on how to work around the situation. It seems with quilters there is ALWAYS a way to get the project done.

Thank you, I've seen that just within the last couple of months how friendly and helpful people can be.
I really think I am doing pretty good coping, better than most would.
I am just glad that I am the type of person that I am and that I don't give up. I used to be a programmer so I loved trying to figure things out using different methods.
When I first tried doing crafts after I lost my center vision. I finished an afghan, which took me about 5 months. Then noticed that I had made a mistake in the first 6 inches. I couldn't stand it. So I started ripping it out. When my husband walked in the room he just saw my hand flailing in the air ripping out the yarn. He couldn't see the mistake but I could. I persisted. I got to making an afghan in less than 2 weeks. Like I said I did a lot by feel of the hands.
Now I am trying quilting, and have made about 10 blocks. I just joined a quilting class yesterday which starts next month.
Happy quilting!

Welcome! I am from the Finger Lakes area in New York near Ithaca, Elmira area. Where are you exactly from. I have been quilting for about 3 years and just love it. A girl just never has enough cotton. My great grandmother quilted when I was a child so it seems I was destined to follow in her footsteps. Good luck and keep in touch.
