Hi! Vintage machine owner and wannabe quilter
You have some great resources on vintage machines here. I did a little looking around and like what I see!
I won a Wheeler and Wilson D-9 at a fabric auction, it was around $50 for the D-9 and so much fabric my storage is struggling.
Then my sister in law insisted I take two more as she cleaned out her garage.
So now I also have a fairly early Davis Rotary badged Victory (no idea the year), and a White FR from around 1915.
I'm also interested in quilting, although it's going to take me some time to have the time for it. I've been saving all my husband's Hawaiian shirts so I have some fun colors to work with in the future.
I also received a Huskystar 224 when we married 13 years ago, so I'm not limited to my vintage machines at all.
I have a lot of fond memories of helping my grandmother finish quilts when I was very little. I would sit under the frame with a circle of older women doing the edges by hand. Some of them would also be poking yarn needles through and my job was to poke them back up.
I have a terrible fabric hoard and really need to make the time to do things with it. The funniest part is I have exactly ONE standard grocery bag of fabric I have purchased from a fabric store. But totes and totes and totes of stuff I want to recycle. And then there are the rolls of fabric I won at auction with the sewing machine... it was an upholstery shop so I was thinking of making bags and purses with a lot of it.

Wow, sounds like you have quite the collection(s), glad to have you join us. I spent a number of years cleaning and refurbishing post-war Japanese machines and donating them to a charity but I am not a machine expert at all -- but we have them here!
I'm jealous, I don't come from a family tradition of quilting so I have no childhood memories of quilts or quilting.
I have a pretty large stash myself, most of mine comes from thrift store shopping. I like to keep busy and always have a project going on, but I simply can't afford that at $12 a yard -- but I can at $1-2 a yard. The area I live (Seattle) is pretty wealthy and the thrift store shopping is excellent for those of us on a tighter budget. No, I can't always get what I want, but I can afford to buy anything I want!
Glad to have you here and we always love pictures. Took me a few months to figure out the connections between my old camera and software and here, but being a bit wordy a picture is worth 10 thousand words
My last couple of projects were from pre-cut squares that were given to me. I think I made some pretty good quilts out of them but I found I didn't enjoy working with the squares, and so I passed on a lot more than I used.
For those Hawaiian shirts, this project is so fun but maybe too literal??

It looks like I cannot upload pictures direct from my phone. But I also read mention of strict size requirements, so I will have to do that at home with a PC.
I actually love this style of message board, I will have to revive my photobucket account, lol! Clickable thumbnails... If I can remember how to do that...

I don't know about photobucket, but I know there were a lot of images that don't show up in a lot of threads here because they were originally on photobucket. Consequently, if you could just resize and post from your computer, when someone wants to see the image, it is visible and not say "photo not found"

With my combination of a less common browser and tons of virus protections, what I see is not the same as the screen shots. I also have an older digital camera and the software with it (has been updated) isn't all that great. I found for me the easiest thing is to use this website which is very limited but very easy and doesn't set off my browser protections to reduce the size of the files.

For people with phones, there is usually some sort of "share" option -- that works for most people, send it to yourself as an email.
