The one I was thinking about is the one posted by barking-rabbit. Go thru it & see how easy she makes it. I thought it was great.

I recently did the same thing with my father-in-laws shirts for each one of his children and grand children. I had to spread the fabric kind of thin because of using for so many people so I asked each person what their favorite color was and mixed that with other shirt squares and made a 9 patch for each person. So far I have made 8 lap quilt size for each kid and grand kid. They were all so surprised and really treasure the memory of their father and grandfather.

here's another thought. I was asked my a church member to sew bears out of their favorite uncles shirts. Each niece and nephew had a flannel shirt dedicated to their bears, Simplicity pattern I believe. makes an 18 or 24 inch bear. One long sleeved shirt was more than enough for a 24 inch bear.
Another family had grandpa's bowling shirts and pants made into clothes for bears. Each child had grandpa's embroidered name on the shirt, with either grey, black or navy blue pants. grandpa was a avid bowler, and each team had matching shirts with names embroidered on them. some teams would get new ones each year.
Bears are huggable, but can be placed as a pillow on the bed or in any room. :)

I just got two books from the library on used clothes recycle
Country Rag Crafts by Sue Reeves (50 projects)
Scraps & Shirttails by Bonnie Green
The first is mostly rugs and make cloths ball like yarn to work with.
Book two Quilts I want to try the rugs.
