Hi there! Bernina really confused things when they reused the old highly regarded 820/830 designations on a model that didn't go over so well with the general public. It can make it much harder to find the information you want/pertinent to your machine.
I have a modern 820 "sewing computer". The 830 would be the embroidery version. My machine had been owned by two Bernina fans before me, neither clicked with the machine and both are now using 770s I think. Mine isn't a lemon machine and we are doing just fine, but I did need to have a thread sensor replaced which was complicated during shut down from Covid.
In any advent, glad to have you here. If it is a modern one, we have a few fans/users and quite a few fans of the older model.

Welcome to the Board. I also live in Florida and I made my first quilt for my first grandchild. That was in 1980 and I can't count the number of quilts I have made since then. I love this Board and I have learned so much from the other members. I hope you have the same results.

Here's another warm welcome from Southern California. My basic machines are the Janome MC6600P and a 1950 Singer 15-91. (My traveling machine is the Singer Featherweight.) My friend has the older version Bernina 830 and when her first one had a disaster befall it, she replaced it with another one. She swears by it. It is great fun to read everything on this site and such a wealth of information, all you need do is ask a question. And we love to see what people make, so hope you will post some of your work too.
