Back To School Quilting Supplies
I saw that Back to School sales are on in Walmart. I picked up some Elmers washable school glue for basting (2/$1) and some Crayola Washable markers. What other art supplies do you all stock up on for quilting during the Back to School sales?

I picked up a couple of the bright colored pencil boxes for rotary cutters and extra blades. They are almost neon this year which makes them easy to locate. They have many uses so I pick up a couple every year.

Our WM has the school supplies display out, but I didn't see the washable school glue. I asked the dept manager and she said the 'sale' doesn't really start 'til next week. So I'll check back.

Well darn, I was there the other day and just grabbed a notebook for fifty cents....never gave markers and glue a thought. Looks like a trip to Walmart is in the works for me this week. Thanks for the heads up.

I buy the Fiskar's child scissors. They are great for snipping thread on a quilt. No danger of accidently cutting the quilt. The soft grip handles are a must and also pretty. The red and green see thru color rulers are great for finding color contrast in fabric.
As one teacher told me at grandson's school:
Do the kids a favor and and don't buy the off brand of scissors. They will not cut as smoothly for little hands as the Fiskars. Kids get frustrated with the tools that don't perform just like we do. One other thing, the .50 pack of Crayola crayons are random colors left from the bigger packs. Most do not have the primary colors in them so check before buying. There is a reason the package is .50

Wow! I am surprised about the crayons!
I always pick up mechanical pencils. I have them everywhere I sew to make notes, to mark patterns, sometimes to mark the fabric where it won't show on the top of the quilt.

Always always test with the Crayola washable and ultra washable markers. I have been caught twice with a real problem on my hands. The first time the stain was small.
The last time I marked a skirt to be hemmed thinking I was marking outside of where it was to be cut and I marked one inch shorter than it should have been. The marker Would Not come out with water or soap and water. I looked this problem up on their website and they suggested alcohol (it didn't work) or soaking in hot water. The very hot water worked after soaking about 4 minutes. But it was a very stressful time.
