Default Bernina 730 at Estate Sale

So there is an estate sale tomorrow and I saw in the posted pictures a Bernina 730. I emailed the company and asked what the price would be. $795 with all that was on the table with it and the sewing table as well. The sewing table doesn't look like anything special but the other stuff on the tables had the hoops, box of thread, bags for the machine, not sure what else. Is it worth it?

Do I need another machine? I have the Bernina 440 that I keep here and a Husqvarna that I keep at my summer place, 2 Babylock sergers (one has the coverstitch that I like for hemming- bought at an estate sale) and a HQ LA.

Do I have time to do embroidery? Ahh, Don't know if I can even get there first thing and it could be gone by the time I get there. Such a dilemma

Anyone in Phoenix, 85013 interested? I could send you the link.

The best way to establish price for a used machine is to check sales on ebay for that particular make and model. It is an active market for such machines.

It sounds like a good deal if it works. Can you try it out? Check to see what comes with it. Bernina feet are about $50 each. You could always sell off the pieces you don't want.

That would probably be a good price if it's the newer 730. Especially with the accessories. And if it had hoops, it may include the embroidery unit.

I get really aggravated at Bernina for re-using the numbers for new sewing machines. I immediately thought of vintage Bernina 730 and was ready to say the price was grossly inflated, then read one of the answers that talked about embroidery and hoops, etc. My Berninas are all from the good old days that are classified as Vintage. Without saying that you are contemplating a buy from an estate, I would tell a dealer that I have an $800 limit, or less, and ask if you can get all the extras that are offered in the estate sale. Sometimes when we stew about buying something that seems too good to be true, the item will have disappeared by the time I make a decision, so then I am saved from myself.

whose to say it will go for that price. Everything is negotiable. Show up and have some fun. even if it is gone, you will have a nice day of it.

I have that 730 with embroidery and paid $3000 in 2013.
Works great, I don't think I'll need another sewing machine.
This one has enough bells and whistles for me.
Go for it!
