I'm still plugging away on my mystery quilt - center is done, now need to trim the border blocks - maybe a full day of working on it tomorrow if nothing else gets in the way - YEA!
Almost forgot to mention - I've got Bonnie's Quilt-Cam on right now too! Life really is good!

JeanieG 01-27-2014 08:29 PM

pjnesler - that looks wonderful! I finished all my blocks, but have not started sewing them together yet. Post a photo when you get the flimsy done.

Finally finished all the clues and gave put two blocks together. (They are just lying side by side, they're not connected, yet.)

gardnergal970 01-28-2014 05:36 AM

I'm still checking in and cheering you on. I have my border fabric and will get that out on in the next week or so. Variety in the sewing room you know.

quilt addict 01-30-2014 12:30 PM

Happy birthday Cindy. What a great way to spend the day. I have yet to catch her on the quilt cam. Maybe that would get me motivated to get my blocks together.

Tweety2911 01-30-2014 04:14 PM

Pjnesler your quilt is looking great!!
Belated Birthday Cindy! Cindy A your blocks are pretty. Looking forward to seeing more!

sewmany 01-30-2014 04:34 PM

Lots of Hst (488) done for step 3.
Lots of 4 patches (300) for step 4.
Is anyone who is done made the King size? Sure is a lot of pieces.
Now for step 5....

gardnergal970 01-31-2014 05:28 AM

Sew many....last unit. Soon the fun of putting them together. Actually you could start putting together some of the 54/40 block if you need a break from units. Only 9 patches and the TriRex unit. What colors are you using?

pjnesler 02-01-2014 02:51 PM

My flimsy is done too!!

I got started on the final border this morning and finished before lunch - rewarded myself with apple pancakes! Took the pictures to show here and put on my blog then fell asleep with my cat - it's his fault, he crawled up on my lap and purred me to sleep.... at least I got the flimsy done!

JeanieG 02-01-2014 03:06 PM

Oh my PJ that looks great! I've just started sewing my blocks together!

SheriR 02-01-2014 04:09 PM

LOVE it pj!!! Nice job.

grannyrae 02-01-2014 05:31 PM

Beautiful. Love seeing all the finishes.

Emma S 02-01-2014 06:47 PM

PJ: Love how the lighter shades of blue make the circles seem so dimensional.

gardnergal970 02-02-2014 06:14 AM

pJ...great finish!

I started out making a king size but decided on cutting it down to 99 X 99, I had 25 blocks left over so I decided to piece a back this is what I came up with,

SheriR 02-02-2014 10:08 AM

Emma beautiful second quilt!

JeanieG 02-02-2014 11:42 AM

Emma, that is way to pretty for a back, I agree with Sheri - great second quilt!!!

SandyinZ4 02-02-2014 06:11 PM

Love everyone's CS tops. I will get one started hopefully be middle of this year.

Fraew 02-02-2014 09:17 PM

Impressive Emma!

gardnergal970 02-03-2014 05:23 AM

Emma...no wonder you do so well with Bonnie's quilts! Look at how you've pieced the borders!! She does use some simple borders but everything else is small pieces arranged in beautiful ways! Great finish!

sewNso 02-03-2014 06:23 PM

I'm started ladies. been working on it about 3 days. I have all of clue 1 done,. they do need trimming tho. and most of my strips cut and sewn for the 4 patches. some 4 patches done. easy does it. I made my self quit tonite....... gotta save some energy for the next day...... :)

JeanieG 02-03-2014 06:25 PM

There is definitely no rush sewNso! Just enjoy yourself and know you will have a beautiful quilt when you get done!

sewNso 02-03-2014 07:24 PM

Jeanie, thx. I am already 2nd guessing my choice of colors after seeing all these 'gifted ladies' putting theirs together. I saw the red and black one on the internet and went towards that one. tied together with the blue. and I am using scraps as much as I can. and my black and red are solids. sooo...... just wondering. but, heck. I'm not taking it to the fair.

I'm the same way, sewNso. Every time a see a different color combination I want to make that one, too. They all look good and yours will too.

Emma S 02-03-2014 07:57 PM

Change in color really changes the look. That's one of the reasons I am really considering making another, just to experiment with the color.

me too, I always make a couple quilts of the same pattern. I just sat here and hand drew a PP pattern for birds in the air, then kept reading this link, and found the pdf file link for BITA. nice to know my hand drawn one was right on. Ha. learned so much here on this board. 2 janes and a FWQ sure helped my education. never thought I would ever be able to do half the stuff I am doing. thx to QB. am going to have to learn to spin my seams, etc. if I keep looking, am I going to find a pdf link to the chevrons?

CindyA 02-04-2014 04:53 AM

Beautiful Emma and PJNesler!!

Cathieinut 02-06-2014 01:16 AM

Hurrah hurrah I got my order from Hancocks of Paducah with my border fabric and it will work well!
I am still going to add a piano key border first to make the quilt a bit larger but with a 9 inch border of the batik I think that will make it work for my queen sized bed...
I need to upload my camera for the picture of the quilt with it's first border so that I can share...so hopefully tomorrow I can get that done.
Thanks for keeping the thread going even though the clues are done an so many have finished.

I have enjoyed seeing so many variations of the quilt and it tempts me to do another but I think I have too many other projects on my "someday" list and I got a link to a new Barbara Brackman project of a Jane Austen inspired quilt coming up and it has me intrigued too! LOL There will never be enough time in two lifetimes to do all that I want!

Emma S 02-06-2014 05:36 AM

Cathie: Can't wait to see your borders. I am hoping people show their quilts after the quilting and binding. After all that is the rest of the story.

quiltsRfun 02-06-2014 09:36 AM

Looking forward to seeing your quilt, Cathie. And could you share the Jane Austen link? She's my favorite author. PM me if that works better.

I'm nowhere near thinking about quilting and binding, but I do hope to post a picture after I've finished the blocks and assemble the top.

gardnergal970 02-07-2014 05:36 AM

http://austenfamilyalbumquilt.blogspot.com. I wanted it too and found this. It will start in April and have a new block every Sunday for 36 weeks.

Emma S 02-07-2014 06:51 AM

Gardnergal: Thanks for the link. Sigh, I think I just committed to another quilt.

Quiltaddiction 02-08-2014 02:54 AM

I am slow on this one and that's OK I have done step one and happy with them . I am half way through the chevrons there's been a lot of ripping and unpicking. I think I'll move on to step 3 and come back to finish the chevrons. All of the quilts are gorgeous and the colour combos are beautiful.

Emma S 02-08-2014 06:06 AM

Addiction: Bonnie's quilts are always very time consuming but worth the effort. Show us pictures of your progress.

Emma your quilt came out very pretty I love how you change your borders very nice Emma. me I was going pretty good cutting up my finial blocks I was in the pinwheel stage when all of a sudden my husband came down with the flu ,then he passed it on to me where I landed in the hospital at the icu care for 8 long long nites and days , I got a lung infection from whatever my husband ha, so now I need to get stronger before I can start sewing again, I do have nurse,s coming to check on me at home for my oxygen tanks ,but I hope to get back to finish my quilt top

Emma S 02-10-2014 06:14 AM

Nellie: What an awful time you've had. I always say a hospital is no place to be sick, bet your glad your home. Take good care of yourself, your quilt will be waiting for you when you're strong enough to get back to it.

sewNso 02-10-2014 05:52 PM

I'm checking in. working on A 3rd clue. that's the nice thing about waiting until you see what it is really going to look like. I can work anyplace I want in the clues. did the 4 patches. and did the tri-rec's. working on the chevron's now. and I am working as much as I can from the scrap bins. I have a lot of yellow scraps and a few gold ones, so I am really enjoying this. i'm not trimmng them all to 3.5 inches just yet. prob wait until I run out of material someplace along the way.
I stopped for a while and got my FWQ 3/4 of the way sashed.
any one else just finishing up? can't wait for more pic's.

nellie 02-10-2014 09:44 PM

thank you Emma. my nurse gave the good head on sewing just for a few mins per hour, I,am so happy to be home ,the hospital staff were so kind and helpful and understanding god bless them ,I only problem I had was my room mate en older lady who had her family right there all the time day and nite , I felt so uncomfortable with her family in the room I,m talking about 8 0r more persons with this lady some where her sons, which is why I felt uncomfortable each time I needed to use the rest room ,and another bad thing was the food oh man that was awful good for a person who wants to lose weight ,I,m so happy to be home and watching everyones beautiful quilt tops keep up the good work ladys and gents
