Christine: Your colors turned out great, no that's not a mistake, its a design innovation.

Christine, even tho your colors got switched, I like the result very much! I am loading my block images into EQ7 now to start playing with the borders. I will let you know what I decide. You are making ANOTHER One? You are more ambitious than me! lolol

Looking forward to seeing the whole top. I was wondering if anyone would go scrappy, which is my favorite.

I am on the home stretch. The tri-rec border was finished this morning and the top finished at 63" x 72". I really had a problem with this first border so the first white border had to be adjusted to finish at 3/4". So, I am digging through the stash for the fabrics to make two more borders and possibly a third to make this quilt queen sized. This one is definitely a scrappy.

That is beautiful. I downloaded the photo and zoomed in on it, it worked out great. I think the variety of shades and tones adds a little something, I really like the look of your 4-patches. The border looks great.

Caroline and sewNso, looking really good. Can't wait to get back to mine but baby gifts got it moved down on the list.

Top is finished. With the final 9" border it measures 90"x100". It still needs a lot of pressing and grooming then it will go into the pile to be quilted.

I give all of you who are doing or have done this Celtic solstice quilt!! I personally love scrappy quilts but the kind that are a little more " free"! The controlled scrappy that this is made of, I think, would drive me berserk.......too much sorting, deciding, whatever.....

If I am going to do something that intense I need all the parts to be the identical fabric... So gold stars to all of you!

Caroline...what a great finish. It's beautiful.
SewNso...looking forward to seeing yours.

Thanks Emma. I am not a "blue" person so do not have a lot of it in my stash. But I do have a lot of purples and browns. And that is what I used. The orange, yellow and reds brightened it up a lot. I am very pleased with the outcome. BTW, the last purple border fabric was from a 100% cotton sheet I found at GW for a backing. It was perfect for the final border to give me size I needed without making more blocks for the large size.

good thing the saying 'cut a few, assemble a few', then 'cut a few, assemble a few later' kept running thru my mind. I started assembling a few, and realized I had sewn my 'chevrons with the yellows touching' on the last bunch I sewed together. NOOOO, the whites are suppose to touch!!!!!! easy rip out.

Caroline, your scrappy CS turned out wonderful. I have only made two blocks for mine but for now it is on the back burner. I have saved as many of the pictures of everyone's as I can though so when I do start mine, I will have some comparisons to look at for border ideas and if and when I get discouraged. Kudos to all of you who have finished yours. I will join your group in a year or two! LOL!
