I'm not done with step 4 but I had to check to see if it had been posted. I would have peaked anyway.

imaquilter 05-25-2008 05:57 AM

Oh my...it's killing me! I want to look but, shouldn't!

Just tell me....is it a very revealing step? In other words, if I peek at it does it give away too much of the pattern?

mary705 05-25-2008 06:37 AM

Not really, just shows us what the next block looks like, and this is where we cut into the yardage again. (her orange and the indigo scraps she used)

ShellyQ 05-25-2008 11:40 AM

Yep, I'm a badddd girl :D , It's just as well cause what I've got aint gonna work, Phooey (borrowing a phrase from Donna cause mine was too bad  )

My own fault, I took the risk on using such different colours, I'm not gonna say too much and spoil it for the rest of you, but because of the black I've used I'm gonna have to come up with some thing a bit different using those split 4 patches we made, because I don't want to waste them. I knew it was a risk and looking on the bright side, it is a challenge and I do enjoy a challenge, will get back to you when I've worked something out but won't post till after Step 6 so as not to ruin it for anyone. Catch y'all later, I'm off to see if I can save a quilt  . I do not want it to join my pile of never ending WIPs :?

bebe 05-26-2008 04:50 AM

Oh noooooooooo!! I have fallen behind due to a few setbacks!!!!!
Back to getting on track .

bebe 05-26-2008 04:56 AM

wow how many of you ladies are keeping up?

I am between step 2 and 3.

mary705 05-26-2008 05:14 AM

I have 13 of the 30 completed. Got all the rows sewn together, just need to sew them into the blocks. For some reason this is really giving me a hard time matching points. Did a lot of resewing.

imaquilter 05-26-2008 05:25 AM

Yeah! I finally did step 1 last night. I am going to work on step 2 today and hopefully get steps 2 and 3 done.

I am determined to catch up!

DonnaRae 05-26-2008 05:47 AM

Is anyone finished through step four yet? I have to iron the redo step one and then start step four again. I am ready to sew step four. Got all cutting done. Hmm maybe I can catch up. But I have to help my mom today, she has been moving, and Hancocks has a big Memorial Day sale today, 50 percent of all craft, quilting, sewing notions, and 50 percent off all batiks, and thier quilters cotton. Oh dear, I am trying to decide wether to speind money or stay home and save it for something else. What dilemmas these stores put us quilters in. :? :D  :D

I've got step 4 done, ready to start on 5. Does anyone read her blog??? I read it everyday. I really enjoy it. Check out todays if you have time and need a break from one of the steps.

mary705 05-26-2008 01:01 PM

way to go PamH

Sew N' Snow 05-26-2008 01:57 PM

I love her blog and read it every day...She is amazing...So fulll of energy and creativity...

mary705 05-26-2008 03:03 PM

I went and read the blog. I don't know what would be worse, just finding the skin or the snake itself.

PamH 05-26-2008 03:55 PM

I think the skin, because it sounds like it is still there somewhere in the house. I hate snakes and would go bonkers knowing he might be crawling around my house. I'd be sleeping with one eye open

Sew N' Snow 05-26-2008 04:01 PM

Wonder if there is such a thing as a snake trap...And hopefully this is not a poisonous type of snake, creeping around in her ceiling...YIKES!!!!

mary705 05-26-2008 04:27 PM

I can't stand snakes either. I would be forever looking up while sewing since she said it was over her machine.

DonnaRae 05-26-2008 04:32 PM

Well I had my mom over for dinner, she is gone now so I came to check my messages and try to get some of step four sewing in. But now I read about her blog and my interest is peaked so off blogging I go. No sewing, oh well I am behind anyway, what is one more behind day..... :? :) :-) :D

mary705 05-26-2008 06:26 PM

I didn't do any sewing today. Will work on probably a baby quilt after I get home from the gym in the morning. Will be an easy one, we got pre-quilted fabric, so only need to cut strips for the binding and make two matching pillows, one for Grandpa and one for Mommy & Daddy.

I did the same thing for the first grandbaby and I was asked to make one for the second one. Still need to get a photo of the baby and all the pertinent info for the pillows, but can at least get the fabric cut. I had my friend buy extra of the quilted fabric and binding fabric for the pillows, I just take the quilted fabric apart and use it on the front of the pillow, and then the binding fabric for the back.

Then I guess I will try to finish up step 4.

Quilting Aggi 05-29-2008 03:38 AM

woooooooooooo hoooooooooooo I FINALLY got back to my mystery!! Last night I cut out Step #5 half square triangles, sewed them up and pressed them all!!!!!!!!!! Yep all 120 of them!! I am ready to assemble the first block!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!

Had some time for step 5 yesterday. Still need to square up steps 4 and 5. Happy sewing, everyone! This is still somewhat of a mystery to me. I have extra "parts!"

PamH 05-29-2008 03:49 AM

Looking good Chele

I'm still working on Step 5, half way done with it.

Quilting Aggi 05-29-2008 03:58 AM

oooooooh Chele they look awesome!!!! I am anxious to finish up Step 4 now and get onto #5. Now that the blocks are starting to come together its getting more exciting!!! I was reading Bonnie's blog the other day and she said she is hoping to get the borders done by this week/weekend.. something like that!! ooooh its getting soooooo close!!!!

mary705 05-29-2008 06:27 AM

I also still need to finish up step 4, but did get my squares and half squares cut while I still had my table opened. I'm also busy working on a baby quilt, got the binding all clipped on and started to swe it last night.

DonnaRae 05-29-2008 07:48 AM

I am not looking at this forum again untill I am on five, (which hopefully will be by tonight). I almost saw the step from a pic posted and I am trully trying to be a good girl (for a very big long change). If I see then I might slow up. I can't belive how fast some of you are. Shame on me! Or shame on you

Chele 05-29-2008 08:05 AM

Fast? Naw! Just bad about doing real work! I'd much rather quilt! LOL!

Sew N' Snow 05-29-2008 04:31 PM

Chele, Love your blocks..I'm leaving tomorrow to spend the week-end at my friend's cabin to sew and sew...So hopefully will finish up Step 5...I love incoperating the orange and blues...It really livens things up...

ShellyQ 05-29-2008 07:45 PM

Chele, those look fab, always luv your colour choices  . I have managed to rescue mine, but I had to redesign the block a bit, to work with all that black I'd used  Went shopping yesterday and got some lovely wool batting (It's sooo soft), I've always wanted to try it. I usually use poly and I know it sounds extravagant but here wool batting is actually cheaper than cotton.

Quilting Aggi 05-30-2008 07:07 AM

I managed to get my rows finished last night from Step #4. I hope to sew them into blocks before weekend's end!! then on to Step #5 !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sew N' Snow 05-30-2008 08:51 AM

Aggi, What additonal colors did you decide to use with your yellows and greens?

For the spinning star block in Step #4 I decided to make it solid navy and a tone on tone white. I think it will really stand out. Once I get some made I will post a photo. I have to decide on the orange fabric in Step #5 soon.

Sew N' Snow 05-30-2008 12:22 PM

Strange as it seems, I find myself thinking about your blocks since I saw your initial color selection and kept going back to navy being the best choice...Possibly a reddish orange color (might) blend in...I was not very brave about choosing my colors so selected mine to be as close to Bonnie's as I could...

amma 05-30-2008 08:46 PM

Beautiful blocks Chele :D :D :D

DonnaRae 06-02-2008 03:49 PM

This has been sooooooo quite for the last couple of days. Does that mean everyone is catching up??? Not me, I have been to busy. Maybe tomorrow.

ShellyQ 06-02-2008 05:20 PM

Hi Donna, I have just finshed mine, that's the first time I've been caught up since we started this  . I had quite a bit of rearranging to do because of my colour choices :? , so it was a fairly big job, thank goodness that's done. I'm not sure whether I should post them yet or not. I think they have worked ok, but they are different from the instructions

DonnaRae 06-02-2008 06:11 PM

Well it sounds like you did your own thing. Probably will be one of the best! If you post pics, I am not looking yet. I am still on four. Had a few days of being really busy doing other things. Had planned on finishing four and doing five but things did not work out that way. I am not looking at any pic's untill I finish four. I still have not peeked at five instructions. For a change I have been a good girl. Won't last long :!: :D

mary705 06-03-2008 02:07 AM

I finished the baby quilt I was working on, so will try to get step 4 finished. Then on to sewing step 5, which I do at least have my pieces cut.

Quilting Aggi 06-03-2008 04:39 AM

woooooo hooooo I finished Step #4 last night!!!! I still have to get photos of the blocks.... I have to finish up a few more of my flip flop bags to sell and then I hope to get going on Step #5 by early next week.

DonnaRae 06-03-2008 08:45 AM

Good going Aggi, I worked on step four last night, and am doing so today too. I probably will finish. Almost there! I have a baby quilt to do I have not even started. I told my HB the baby will be graduating highschool by the time I get it done at the speed I am going. Well back to sewing I go....
