For those who were interested in the "new" Retro Singer 160 machine...

I bought a singer futura from hsn and had to send it back to the factory the first week I had it. Got it back and made a baby quilt. Quilted about 75% of the BABY quilt and the stitches started looking horrible and finally would not do at all. I called hsn and was basically told it was my tough luck. It had been over one month. Of course it was at the factory for that first month. I traded it in for a bernina, which I love. At least I got 1/4 back of what I paid for it. I will never buy a singer again. Nor will I buy a sewing machine from hsn.

Froggiey, I feel your pain. The Singer Quantum L-500 I bought from HSN has been nothing but trouble. I've had to mail it back to Singer's facility in Tennessee twice. I am very hesitant about buying another Singer now, especially a brand-new model that hasn't stood the test of time. But, I will be watching the shows on this new machine, just to check it out. Curiosity!!

Sorry but WHAT is "Singer" thinking ?? ... I hope people know that "Singer" label machines are NOT the Singer machines we grew up with. IMHO this is probably the UGLIEST machine I've EVER seen ... and WHY would someone buy this one at > $500 for plastic, made in China ... when you can get a REAL, timeless FW and for less $$ ???

I FOR ONE AM IN LOVE WITH MY SINGER SEWING MACHINES and wouldn't hesitate to by another one like the ones I have. They are just the greatest machines ever made. I'm prejudice about them....... but then again, my machines are the vintage Singer 99 and the wonderful little Featherweights!!! I wouldn't give two hoots for the new ones!!! Give me the good old black metal Singers any time!!

I am excited as well and I think it is meanspirited to throw rocks at a company that put so many years into providing most of us with our introduction to machine sewing. I own several singers, a Brothers and a Husky... I love them all.
