I'm not one to make scrap quilts but I had lots of random 5 inch squares in a bin. I made one block and then another before I knew it i had 54 blocks made. It was fun to see how the finished block would be, like a kaleidoscope block. I didn't match anything, went with contrast or doesn't match at all. The block seems to me to be a disappearing square in a square. Some tips I found along the way. After making the first block heavy starch it before cutting again. I used 324 squares that I thought would never be used. Here is picture of my finished blocks. It was fun to make and will be a donation quilt to foster care.

A lady in my Community service sewing group was making that quilt at our last meeting. It made a really interesting and attractive quilt. She hates cutting, so another lady was making 5" squares for her on her Accuquilt cutter.

I love this! Your quilt is fantastic. I watched the video and it seems *doable* and not too confusing. Putting this one on my list!

The blocks are very forgiving. Can't tell if they line up or not.

For squares that may or may not go together it made a stunning quilt!

correction: starch the square in a square block before trimming to 7" square. Measure from the middle out to square up is much easier using a 3 1/2 " ruler.

What a wonderful quilt pattern. Thank you for sharing with us. Perfect use for 5" squares. I know what my next project is going to be.
