we NEED to see the pattern. I wonder why it requires 1/16" measurements.
Please show us the pattern. Otherwise we are just talking in the dark without informed information.

I've never heard of a pattern calling for a 1/16th measurement. Personally, I think I'd find a different pattern.

Try a good carpenter's 12-18-or 24" metal ruler. It should measure in 16ths and 32nds.
Or try a Drafting ruler that an architect might use in drawing. (sorry about the spelling, my spell check is gone)

John Flynn has a pattern, his braided borders, that measures to the 32nd of an inch. He suggested using the outside of the yellow marked line on the ruler for the measure. It was a pain but what a great border when done. I imagine the pattern you're doing must be similar. Stick with it, using the between space between 1/8 and 1/4, for example.

can you at least give the name and designer of the pattern. Otherwise we are all just stabbing in the dark about this. That is, unless you need any more information other than where to get the ruler.

If I were looking I would go on the web sites of the ruler comanies and send emails to them asking if they make such rulers.
Or better still, contact the designer of the pattern and ask where he/she got the ruler.

I searched on "quilting rulers with 1/16" increments" Isn't Google wonderful.
One company came up that lists rulers with 1/16" increments.

Holice,
Thank you so very much! I searched and came up with nothing, thank you so much. I already ordered the Feathered Star Ruler.

As for the pattern, it doesn't have a name and is hand written. It is my Grandmothers pattern, she died in 1967. I was privileged enough to get her quilting/sewing boxes and now that I am retired I am going through all of it in fine detail. One of the quilt tops I have looks like it was made with this pattern and is gorgeous. My Grandfather was a carpenter...I wonder if she used one of his rulers...?

Thank you everyone! I am a happy girl now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

If I were you - I would paper piece this little! mystery. I use graph paper a lot for my paper pieced tiny things. Then you can use regular - non sewing rulers - to mark your sewing lines. All I can think of. And good luck!

Try hobby craft or art shops. I'm sure that is where I purchased a normal ruler with a metal strip on one edge and marked like an inch foot school ruler. It does have 1/16 on. I bought it for paper cutting and ending up using it for quilting.
