There are many quilt shops that have the free patterns posted on their site. One of them is Hancock's of Paducah. Another is Red Rooster quilts. I am looking forward to making a quilt called Mocha Kiss Tonga Treats especially since a got my first package of strips on sale. Patterns are always free for download or printing. HAVE FUN !!

I cut a lot of my scraps into strips also. I'm sewing them toghether using the jelly roll race idea, but by colors sort of. I plan to use them as backgrounds for applique. I sew the strips together at an angle instead of straight and it looks much better. Something like this: http://quiltingwithamarmaladecat.blo...-it-again.html

If you go to pinterest and search for jelly roll quilts, you maybe able to find some cool ideas, or you may become addicted to it. Between quiltboard and pinterest you'll never have time to quilt.

Great suggestions so far. I have been saving strips in varying sizes to do the jelly roll race quilt...even maybe cutting the strips in shorter lengths to get a good mix up of colors.

Lynnie, take a look at some of the jelly roll patterns on the internet (just google it) and the jelly roll books. There is tons of inspiration in both places. I agree with the suggestions already offered. Another thing you can do is make scrappy four patches, 8 patches, or bigger. You can sew strips together and cut them or cut 2.5 squares from your strips and sew them together.

I was thinking of the jelly roll also or you could sew your strips diagonally onto a muslin square, (strip quilts ), or you could start with the 3" cut into 1 1/2, then sew and add strips from left to right til you get a pretty good size block, this would be scrappy but it will work.
