The Janome "02" 1/4 inch foot is a scant quarter inch when you use it. I think you can buy it separately if it isn't a stock foot with whichever machine you buy.

Enjoy!!!! Both the hunt/search/decision and the new machine.

I started out with the Janome DC3050, had it for over a year and then upgraded to a Memory Craft 4900. Loved the 3050, but wanted more decorative stitches. Love my MC 4900....I know there are even more upgrades, but I am very pleased with what I have.

I'm sorry I didn't reply sooner, I've been out and about today. The throat space is small. I measured it at 6 1/2 inches. I don't quilt on it, I use it for piecing and taking to classes. Oops, should have read further, sounds like you made a good choice on your new machine. I do like Janome brand and haven't had a problem with it. Enjoy playing with your new baby.
