505 or Sulky are the best to me.

I use 505. I have not had any problems with it.

505 is my #1 choice too!!
Had a bad experience with another, and haven't tried any others since
(but I know it was not Sullivan's).

For the needle gumming ....
I just keep some alcohol swabs handy and wipe off if/when it happens.

I agree 505 is excellent. Lately I've been using June Taylor (50% at JoAnn's) and have been very pleased with the results. It seems that a can of it lasts twice as long as 505. Doesn't overspray, not odorous, no gumming.

I use and like Sullivan's and never found it gummed up the needle. Are you perhaps over-spraying?

Hmmm! So happy I read these posts. I have been using Sullivan's exclusively, however, I am almost out of my supply. I'm ready to try 505. Never occurred to me that the skipped stitches could be caused by the spray. Thanks everyone. Love it here on this Board!

I like 505 because it is low odor (at least I think so) but I like Sullivan's also as it is a bit cheaper. I have not had any gumming problems.

I also wait a few hours before sewing. sort of letting the spray dry...

I like 505 and have used it up until 2 weeks ago. I happened upon a U-Tube called Chatterbox Quilting and learned how to make homemade spray baste. It works, its cheap and I can do this all inside without a worry about overspray! The best trick to the recipe is to make it at night and let it cool to room temperature before adding last ingredient. This has been a game changer and I have already made two batches! Great stuff
