I will use a blend but I prefer 80/20. I will use 70/30 if it fills a need and I can't find something better. Mostly when considering a blend for a quilt, I go more by the weave than just by the % of blend. An 80/20 with a loose weave or thin hand I would not use. I find poly tends to fray more so I like a tight weave and thicker hand to a blend. One quilt I made for my daughter needed several repairs so I visited prepared to make those repairs. I was rather stunned to find that all the seams that had frayed open were the same fabric, and were not less that a quarter inch as I had suspected. Some of those seams had raveled almost half an inch, continuing to ravel after reaching the seam. It was fabric that I had bought as a remnant and had been marked 100% cotton.
I feel sure it must have been mislabled as I have never seen cotton ravel that badly.
