No you are not alone No long arm machine at my house .. nor is there any intention to have one. But I will say for big quilts I send them to a Long Arm pro ... its the best gift I can give myself .... I just hated ... and I mean HATED !!! wrestling that big quilt through my regular machine. I would stress ,and CUSS like a bad mannered truck driver. It was very liberating to use the pros for the big quilts.

No you are not. There are also several posts about quilting on your sewing machine. It is not exactly fun but it is possible. If you have a vintage sewing machine you might want to consider quilting on that. many have alrger openings and are pretty powerful. Besure to get some quilting gloves, thinner batting that can be quilted further apart like warm and natural and puddle your quilt doing sections at a time.

I do think nothing is as comfortable as a hand quilted quilt. It is very beautiful and there is nothing like it. IMHO

LOL I looked at the Avante just Friday but unfortunately we had up to $7000 on car, oldies, repairs and wedding expenses from DD so the account was empty. DH was the one figuring it out as he knows my joints do not like these large quilts on a home machine.

I don't have one and probably never will unless the prices drop significantly. I use my regular machine to quilt what I can, but I have a stack of tops waiting because I'm not very good at FMQ on it and I don't want to ruin them.

I was a hand quilter only until about 2 years ago...I then joined a quilt group, and started using my Brother PC-420...Just in last couple of months I have bought a Brother PQ1500...I am coming to realize that its not really the machine...its the user....I kinda hate to admit that..as I keep thinking if I had like a handiquilter set up all of my work would be awesome...and look like the quilting I see here...lol...oh well, gotta dream...

I don't have a LA and would love one. And... by the way just noticed youare in Naples. My Mom lives there just moved last fall. We came last spring and will try and get back. We found two quilt stores and hope to find some more next year.
